A heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a vessel configured to receive refrigerant from a condenser of the HVAC system, an evaporator configured to receive the refrigerant from the vessel, a first conduit configured to direct a first flow of the refrigerant to a first inlet of the evaporator, and a second conduit configured to direct a second flow of the refrigerant to a second inlet of the evaporator. The second inlet is above the first inlet relative to a vertical axis.

A vapor compression system includes a first conduit fluidly coupling a liquid collection portion of a condenser and an evaporator, where the first conduit is configured to direct a first flow of refrigerant from the condenser to a first inlet of the evaporator and a second conduit fluidly coupling the liquid collection portion of the condenser and the evaporator, where the second conduit is configured to direct a second flow of refrigerant from the condenser to a second inlet of the evaporator via gravitational force, and where the first inlet is disposed above the second inlet relative to a vertical dimension of the evaporator.

Bypass line for refrigerant

In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) system includes a variable speed drive (VSD) enclosure. The VSD enclosure includes a main drive line variable speed drive (VSD) configured to supply power to a motor, and an oil pump variable speed drive (VSD) configured to supply power to a pump. The pump is configured to supply oil to one or more moving parts of the HVAC&R system. Additionally or in the alternative to the oil pump VSD, the VSD enclosure includes a magnetic bearing controller and/or a magnetic bearing controller power supply. The magnetic bearing controller is configured to control magnetic bearings of the HVAC&R system.

Systems for a chiller electrical enclosure

A variable speed drive includes a converter connected to an AC power source, a DC link connected to the converter, and an inverter connected to the DC link. The inverter converts DC voltage into an output AC power having a variable voltage and frequency. The inverter includes at least one power electronics module and associated control circuitry; a heat sink in thermal communication with the power electronics module and in fluid communication with a manifold. The manifold includes a tubular member having at least one vertical member portion and at least one horizontal member portion in fluid communication. A plurality of ports conduct cooling fluid into and out of the manifold. A bracket attaches the manifold to a structural frame. Brackets are provided for attachment of power electronics modules to the manifold.
