An earphone with a physiologic sensor includes a housing; a speaker in the housing; an enhancer comprising a body mounted on the housing and adapted to be secured in the ear to acoustically couple the speaker to the user's ear; and an optical physiologic sensor disposed inside the enhancer, the enhancer having an aperture or window aligned with the optical physiologic sensor, so that the sensor can optically couple with the user's ear when the enhancer is secured in the user's ear.

A method and system for sizing an earpiece include situating a calibration device proximate a user's ear. The user holds an image capture device so as to aim the image capture device at the user's ear. The user then touches and holds a random area of the touch screen display and releases the touch screen display to activate the image capture device and capture an image of the user's ear and the calibration device. The captured image is then analyzed and an earpiece size is determined based on the analysis of the image.

Image capture and earpiece sizing system and method

An ear measurement system and method include obtaining an image of an ear and an associated a calibration device, and analyzing the image to determine the size of desired portions of the ear. Such sizing is then used, for example, for fitting an earbud or earbud adapter.

Ear sizing system and method

A system and method for providing earpieces for a user includes an inventory of standard earpieces having a plurality of different parameters, and a device for making a non-contact measurement of the user's ear, such as a camera or scanner. An ear-piece is selected from the inventory based on the non-contact measurement of the user's ear.

Earpiece system

An earbud adapter or in-ear monitor includes an Ear Interface that fits the human ear and further permits the wearer of these devices to adjust parameters of the fit. In additional aspects, the Ear Interface portion of these devices permits the user to adjust the transmission of ambient sound. The Ear Interface portion also allows the user to change ornamentation.

An adjustable occlusion headphone includes a housing having a face, a resilient seal member on the housing, adapted to surround the user's ear, and with the face of the housing form a chamber enclosing the user's ear. A speaker communicates through the face of the housing to provide sound to the user's ear. There is at least one port in the face of the housing. A passage extends from each port to the exterior of the housing. A valve member associated with each passage, is operable between an open position and a closed position, and an operator for operating each valve member between its open and closed position to control sound communication from outside the housing to the chamber.

An earphone adapted to be worn in a user's ear has a body having a front face. There is a speaker in the front face of the body. A radially projecting brim surrounds the front face, the brim having an elongated shape configured fit in the concha of the user's ear, with portions of the rearward face of the brim engaged by the tragus and the antitragus of the user's ear.

A personal sound system includes a portable electronic device that provides an analog audio signal to an audio output; an earphone system, connected by wire to the audio output, the portable electronic device, the earphone system including at least one earphone speaker; at least one control associated with the earphone system, the at least one control wirelessly linked to the portable electronic device so that operation of the at least control adjusts the balance between two or more frequency components of the analog audio signal provided to the at least one earphone.

Earbuds and earphones for personal sound system

Wireless headphones include left and right earphones connected by a cable. Each of the left and right earphones comprising a generally C-shaped body adapted to fit behind the user's ear, with a concave inner edge, a convex outer edge, a first end that is positioned generally adjacent the top of the user's ear and a second end positioned generally adjacent the bottom of the user's ear when the body is positioned behind the user's ear. A speaker having a sound tunnel associated therewith adapted to fit in the ear canal of the wearer; a resilient support extending forwardly and downwardly from the top end of the C-shaped body, the support normally supporting the speaker in a position which, when the C-shaped body behind the user's ear, is misaligned with the user's ear canal, but resiliently deflects to allow the sound tunnel to align with and be inserted into the user's ear canal, thereby resiliently biasing the C-shaped body against the user's head.

An athletic training system includes a personal electronic device having a processor, a memory, and a GPS sensor. The processor runs an application that calculates at least one of distance traveled, elevation change, and speed, of the user carrying the personal electronic device, and based upon location information obtained from the GPS sensor provides a training-related message to the user based upon at least one of the calculated distance traveled, elevation change, and speed.

Closed loop athlete training system

A set of earphones includes a splitter having a splitter body, having first and second ends. A signal wire extends from the first end of the splitter. Left and right earphone wires extending from the second end of the splitter. A sleeve projecting from the second end of the splitter, surrounding the left and right earphone wires. A cinch is slidably mounted on the left and right earphone wires, a portion of the cinch is adapted to fit in the sleeve projecting from the second end of the elongate body, for stowing the cinch when not in use.

A behind-the-ear mountable earphone includes a generally C-shaped ear support. The support has a first section extending between a first end and the top of the 'C', adapted to fit behind the user's ear, and a second section extending from the top of the 'C' to a second end. The second section is in a plane different from the first section, so that when the first section is behind the user's ear, the second section extends over the front of the user's ear. An earphone is telescopingly mounted on the second end of the C-shaped support. The earphone comprising a generally circular face adapted to be received in the concha of the user's ear, the generally circular face disposed at an angle with respect to the first section of the generally C-shaped support.
