In one embodiment, a cable includes a data transmission path disposed about an axial center of the cable and a power transmission path sheathing the data transmission path. The power transmission path includes a power layer and a ground layer, where the power transmission path is characterized by a distributed impedance having at least one frequency dependent impedance characteristic. In some implementations, ground layer shields the data transmission path from electromagnetic interference. In some implementations, the frequency dependent impedance characteristic of the power transmission path is characterized by a capacitance value that satisfies a capacitance criterion at frequencies above a first frequency level. In some implementations, the frequency dependent impedance characteristic of the power transmission path is characterized by an inductance value that satisfies a first inductance criterion at frequencies above a first frequency level.

Unified power and data cable

In one embodiment, a method includes: obtaining a power loss value for a cable that couples a device to a power source, where the power loss value is indicative of an amount of power lost through the cable during power transmission from the power source to the device; and determining, based at least in part on the power loss value for the cable, a power budget value indicative of an amount of power received by the device from the power source.

An apparatus comprises multiple power supply switches each including a respective power Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) to receive a respective one of multiple power voltages ranked incrementally from a lowest priority to a highest priority, and multiple control modules each coupled to, and configured to control, a respective one of the power MOSFETs, each control module to receive all of the power voltages having higher priorities than the power voltage received at the respective power MOSFET controlled by that control module, each control module to control the respective power MOSFET so as to turn off the respective power MOSFET if any of the higher priority power voltages are present, or permit the respective power MOSFET to turn on responsive to the respective power voltage if all of the higher priority power voltages are absent.

Efficiently managing multiple power supplies

The present disclosure relates generating a geofence based on messages received periodically from a plurality of vehicles. A candidate geofence is approximated based on vehicle stoppage data obtained from a datalog of messages. For a given candidate geofence, additional stoppage data is obtained to identify additional vehicle stoppages. The locations of these additional vehicle stoppages are binned to a corresponding geospatial tile. A relatively large cluster of contiguous geospatial tiles form a geofence that may be transmitted to a client device.

Systems and methods for generating geofences

A wheel unit includes a rotating wheel, a wheel axle, and a location sensor. The rotating wheel rotates with respect to the wheel axle. The location sensor is disposed in a fixed position with respect to the wheel axle. The location sensor determines coordinates for a location of the wheel unit.

Techniques to reduce light dissipation (e.g., light bleed) for electronic device assemblies. According to one embodiment, the techniques include forming a housing for a device from a plastic material. The housing defines an area of permissible light transmission from an interior portion of the housing through an exterior portion of the housing to provide one or more visual notifications for the device. The techniques further include forming a light dissipation layer from the plastic material proximate the area of permissible light transmission to inhibit light propagation through the housing outside the area of permissible light transmission.

In one embodiment, a method includes obtaining a first value indicative of an amount of power available to a device from a power source, obtaining a second value indicative of an amount of power consumed by the device, and selecting, based on the first value and second value, one or more power consuming functions of the device in order to manage power consumption of the device.

An apparatus includes a first power supply switch, a second power supply switch, and a control circuit. The first power supply switch includes a P-channel Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (PMOSFET) having a drain coupled to a first power rail to receive a first power voltage, a source coupled to an output node, and a gate to selectively turn on or off the PMOSFET to supply the first power voltage to the output node or isolate the first power rail. The second power supply switch receives a second power voltage and passes it to the output node if the second power voltage is present. The control circuit cooperates with the first power supply switch to control the gate voltage to turn on the PMOSFET if the first power voltage is present and the second power voltage is absent, and turn off the PMOSFET if the second power voltage is present.

In one implementation, an apparatus includes: a first reflector portion having a first mount for a first antenna that is configured to operate in a first frequency range, where the first mount characterizes an emission point of a main lobe of the first antenna; and a second reflector portion having a second mount for a second antenna that is configured to operate in a second frequency range that overlaps the first frequency range, where the second mount characterizes an emission point of a main lobe of the second antenna. The second reflector portion is arranged relative to the first reflector portion in order to satisfy a near-field interference isolation criterion between the first and second antennae. In some implementations, the distance between the antenna mounts is less than a distance between the antenna mounts arranged in a plane due to increased spatial diversity between the first and second antennae.

Mitigating co-channel interference in multi-radio devices

In one implementation, a device includes: one or more data terminals, where each of the one or more data terminals provides a respective mating interface between a respective data transmission path and a corresponding device data port; a first power terminal having a power portion and a ground portion separated by a dielectric, where the ground portion is arranged in association with the one or more data terminals in order to shield the one or more data terminals from electromagnetic interference from the power portion, and where the first power terminal provides a respective mating interface between a respective power transmission path and a corresponding device power port; and a support member provided to maintain the arrangement of the one or more data terminals in combination with the first power terminal.

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes: an antenna mount provided for an antenna; a first portion of an electrically conductive heat coupler provided for the antenna mount, wherein the first portion of the electrically conductive heat coupler reflects electromagnetic radiation associated with the antenna; and a second portion of the electrically conductive heat coupler electrically coupled to the first portion, where the second portion is shaped for arrangement in association with the placement of one or more electrical components on a substrate in order to draw heat away from at least one of the one or more electrical components and dissipate the heat over a combined surface area of the first and second portions of the electrically conductive heat coupler.
