Disclosed herein are methods and systems for integrating peer-to-peer (P2P) networks with content delivery networks (CDNs). In an embodiment, a method for use in a network storage control peer (NSCP) supporting P2P operation includes receiving swarm stats from a tracker; determining, based on the received swarm stats, a P2P rarity associated with a content piece; and responsive to the determined P2P rarity, transmitting an upload request message to an ingestion gateway, wherein the upload request message indicates that the content piece is to be uploaded to a CDN.

Methods and systems for integration of peer-to-peer (P2P) networks with content delivery networks (CDNS)

A communication network's bandwidth may be managed using bandwidth management ('BWM') and/or bandwidth aggregation ('BWA') techniques. For example, packets of traffic may be inspected to identify a video stream and/or video sub-streams. The video sub-streams may be partitioned for transmission. For example, the video sub-streams may be partitioned based on a characteristic and/or policies associated therewith. One or more radio access technologies (&#x201c;RATs&#x201d;) may be selected for transmitting the video sub-streams. The one or more RATs may be selected according to one or more policies for managing the bandwidth associated with the video. The video sub-streams may be transmitted via a single RAT or a plurality of aggregated RATs.

Method and apparatus for video aware bandwidth aggregation and/or management

A method and apparatus for use in a network storage control peer (NSCP) supporting peer to peer (P2P) operation are disclosed. The method includes receiving a content map request message and transmitting a content map response message including an indication that a CDN-stored content piece is available from the NSCP; and, receiving a content fetch request message for the content piece and transmitting a response message including a redirection command and the CDN URI for the content piece.

The CDNI router CDN may update at least one end-user-based CDNI routing table based on Internet protocol (IP) address blocks in the CDNI route advertisement message. The CDNI router CDN may transmit an updated CDNI route advertisement message to at least one of the upstream and downstream CDNs. At least one of the upstream and downstream CDNs may update at least one end-user-based CDNI routing table based on the end user IP address blocks in the updated CDNI route advertisement message.

Method and apparatus for providing interfacing between content delivery networks

A method and apparatus for use in a network storage control peer (NSCP) supporting peer to peer (P2P) operation are disclosed. The method includes receiving information from a tracker, wherein the information includes swarm stats, selecting and joining a swarm based on the received information, receiving a first stat report from the tracker, wherein the stat report includes additional swarm stats, determining whether to upload information to an ingestion gateway based on the received first stat report, transmitting an upload request message to the ingestion gateway, receiving an upload response from the ingestion gateway, and transmitting a second stat report to the tracker; wherein the second stat report includes a uniform resource identifier (URI) for the uploaded information.
