Media, methods, and systems are provided for real-time updates of collaborative documents in a group-based communication system. Collaborative documents may allow for multiple users to simultaneously modify and edit a document. When a collaborative document is created, a server may create an ephemeral channel and an identifier for the collaborative document. As users connect to the collaborative document, the users may be assigned a temporary subscription to the collaborative document. Real-time events, such as indications that a user is typing, indications that a user is connected in the collaborative document, and changes to the collaborative document may be published to the user via the temporary subscription. When the user disconnects from the document, the real-time events may no longer be communicated.

Techniques for clustering a plurality of virtual space servers based on communication platform data are discussed herein. In some examples, a user may post a message to a virtual space of a communication platform. The communication platform may transmit the message to virtual space servers configured to manage the virtual space within which the message originated. In such examples, the communication platform may identify clusters of virtual space servers and determine within which cluster the corresponding virtual space server is located. Virtual space servers may be clustered based on attribute data associated with communication platform data. In some examples, the communication platform may send the message to the virtual space server which may send the message to subscribing gateway servers. Further, the gateways servers may send the message to the recipient client devices. The recipient client devices may display the message via a user interface of the communication platform.

Methods, media, and systems for facilitating inter-application communications between a web platform and a remote application computing device are disclosed such that a link protocol agent associated with the web platform processes an authentication request based on which a temporary connection resource locator is provided. A connection is then established at the resource locator and maintained for a period of time. Payloads and acknowledgements are exchanged in the established connection. The connection is capable of being established across a firewall.

Techniques for enabling system redundancy for group-based communication platforms are discussed herein. In some examples, a user may post a message to a virtual space of a communication platform. The communication platform may transmit the message to virtual space servers which manage the virtual space within which the message originated. In such examples, a virtual space may be associated with a plurality of geographically distributed virtual space servers. Based on the virtual space servers receiving the message, the virtual space servers may send the message to one or more gateway servers that are subscribed to the virtual space servers. Gateway servers may be connected to client devices associated with user profiles. Upon receiving the message from the virtual space servers, the gateways servers may send the message to the recipient client devices. The recipient client devices may display the message via a user interface of the communication platform.

The Messaging Search and Management Apparatuses, Methods and Systems ('MSM') transforms message, ranking request inputs via MSM components into work graphs, ML structure input data, ML structure, ranking response outputs. A work graph generation request that includes group level access control data may be obtained. A set of metadata access control carrying messages, a set of users, a set of channels, and a set of topics with access control data corresponding to the group level access control data may be determined. A user priority score for each of the other users, a channel priority score for each of the channels, and a topic priority score for each of the topics, from the perspective of each user, may be calculated. A work graph data structure may be generated that includes, for each user, data regarding the calculated user priority scores, channel priority scores, and topic priority scores.

Updating object subscriptions based on trigger events is described. An indication of a trigger event, associated with an object, can be received from a client of a user. The object can be associated with current object data that is stored in a storage area of a subscription management system. The storage area can maintain the current object data for at least the object and a subscription list for client(s), wherein the subscription list for each of the client(s) comprises object identifiers corresponding to subscribed objects for each of the client(s). Based at least partly on receiving the indication of the trigger event and determining that the trigger event is associated with a modification to a subscription, the subscription list can be updated to generate an updated subscription list for the client and current object data for the subscribed objects identified within the updated subscription list can be provided thereto.

In an example, server(s) associated with a group-based communication platform can cause at least one communication channel to be presented via a user interface output via a display of a user computing device operable by a user. The user may not be a current member of the communication channel. The server(s) can receive a request to preview the communication channel and, based at least in part on receiving the request, can cause a preview of the communication channel to be presented via the user interface. The preview can present data associated with the communication channel via the user interface. The server(s) can send, to the user computing device, updated data associated with the communication channel while the preview is being presented via the user interface.

Various embodiments are directed to systems and methods for automatically distributing loads among computing devices involved in message delivery within a group-based communication platform. Embodiments utilize a status checker to monitor the relative health and/or utilization of various channel servers each servicing a group-based communication channel for communication among a particular group of client devices. Upon detecting that one or more of the channel servers exhibit failing health characteristics, the status checker may automatically reallocate the messaging load performed by the failing channel server to other servers, thereby redefining the group-based communication channel associated with a particular group to encompass the newly assigned channel server and minimizing the impact of the failed channel server on message distribution within the group-based communication channel.
