An apparatus for checking linear dimensions of mechanical parts comprises a bed, a longitudinal slide and two transverse slides arranged on the longitudinal slide and carrying relevant sensing elements adapted to touch the part to be checked. In order to obtain flexibility and quickness of operation, first and second reference rests for relevant parts are positioned on the bed and the transverse slides carry sensing elements having an arrangement substantially symmetrical with respect to a transverse symmetry plane. The apparatus is particularly suitable for checking parts after a first and, respectively, a second machining operation.

A gauge for measuring the clearance between a cam of an engine camshaft and the relevant valve, during rotation of the camshaft, comprises a first movable feeler element, for contacting the cam profile, and a second movable feeler element, for contacting a surface, facing the cam, of the valve or of an element coupled to the valve. A retraction device can displace the second feeler element from a rest position to an operating position. Gauging heads provide a signal depending on the mutual position of the first and second feeler elements and a processing circuit processes these signals to obtain the clearance.

An apparatus for checking features, particularly linear dimensions, of mechanical pieces being transported by a conveyor, comprising a slide supporting a gauging device adapted to check the subsequent pieces and cam devices for actuating the slide and the gauging device. The actuating devices are coupled to the slide in such a way that the slide performs a reciprocating motion including a forward stroke, during which a piece is checked, and a return stroke for rendering possible the checking of the subsequent piece. The checking of each piece is carried out during a portion of the forward stroke of the slide, while the slide moves in synchronism with the conveyor.

The apparatus includes a frame, a plate coupled to a shaft for making the piece to be checked rotate with respect to the frame and a reference plate resting on the piece for defining a mechanical reference for the checking of the piece. A supporting device couples the reference plate to the frame and permits rotation of the reference plate together with the piece. Measuring heads, fixed to the frame, include feeler elements which contact - without any sliding motion - the supporting device, for indirectly detecting the position of the mechanical reference during the piece rotation.

An apparatus for sorting workpieces belonging to different classification classes from a loading device, to a plurality of outputs for the different classification classes, comprising a quide chute to direct the workpieces towards the relevant outputs and control apparatus adapted to receive signals responsive to the class of each workpiece in order to actuate the guide chute, the guide chute including a support adapted to let the workpiece to be sorted while in transit from the loading device to the relevant output, the support including a first end communicating with the loading device and a second end mobile in order to be selectively placed in communication with one of the outputs, the control apparatus being adapted to position the second end in correspondence to the output related to the workpiece to be sorted.
