The present disclosure relates to headrest assemblies for passenger vehicles. More specifically, the present disclosure describes a headrest assembly that provides adjustment between a raised position and a lowered position by way of a pair of compression springs or an over-centering linkage. Also provided herein is a method for using the same.

Passenger seating headrest with friction assembly

An adjustable headrest that provides both support and comfort to the user and one that can be used in connection with various types of passenger vehicles. The headrest includes slide mechanisms for permitting easy height adjustment of the headrest and also includes an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the headrest forwardly and rearwardly. Further, the headrest includes easily adjustable, wing-like, side-support members that are pivotally connected to a centrally located, vertically adjustable head support member by specially designed hinges.

A utility tray for use with a substantially upright seat back which includes a seat back connector mechanism and a support tray assembly connected to the seat back connector mechanism. The support tray assembly includes a pair of first and second friction pivot joint assemblies connected to the seat back connector mechanism; a pair of support rails connected to and extending from the friction pivot joint assemblies; a first tray section connected to the pair of support rails for movement between a first retracted position and a second extended position, and a second tray section hingeably connected to the first tray section.

The adjustable headrest includes novel slide assemblies that permit multiple height adjustments of the headrest. More particularly, the headrest of the invention can be moved from a first lower position to a second intermediate position and finally to an uppermost position.
