A shroud assembly for gas turbine engine defining an axial direction, a radial direction, and a circumferential direction includes a shroud segment extending substantially along the circumferential direction and including a forward wall and an aft wall spaced along the axial direction from one another and defining a cavity therebetween; and a hanger assembly including a first attachment member and a seal member, the first attachment member attached to one of the forward wall or the aft wall of the shroud segment, and the seal member positioned within the cavity and interference fit against the other of the forward wall or the aft wall of the shroud segment.

Shroud sealing for a gas turbine engine

A segmented flow path assembly and spline seals therefore are provided. A method for cooling a spline seal is also provided. In one exemplary aspect, a spline seal is provided that may be positioned at least in part in a groove defined by a first flowpath segment and at least in part in a oppositely facing groove defined by an adjacent flowpath segment. The spline seal may span the gap between the adjacent flowpath segments and provide sealing therefore. The spline seal includes features that allow a cooling flow to bypass the spline seal to cool the hot side of the seal as well as to meter the flow by the seal.

Shroud assemblies and methods for cooling gas turbine engine shrouds are provided. For example, a shroud assembly comprises a shroud segment having hot and cold side portions. The hot side portion faces a gas flow path, and the cold side portion faces a cooling fluid flow path. The shroud assembly further comprises a shroud hanger for mounting the shroud segment in the gas turbine engine. The shroud hanger includes a conduit for receipt of a flow of cooling fluid that defines an outlet configured for the flow of cooling fluid to exit the conduit substantially tangential to the cold side portion of the shroud segment. The shroud and shroud hanger together define an annular cavity that forms the cooling fluid flow path, and fluid exits a plurality of conduits defined in the shroud hanger into the cavity substantially tangential to the shroud cold side to cool the shroud cold side.

Flow discouragers, flow path assemblies, and methods for assembling flow path assemblies are provided. For example, a discourager for discouraging fluid flow between adjacent first and second components comprises a first contact surface in contact with the first component; a second contact surface in contact with the second component; and a body connecting the first and second contact surfaces that includes a pocket for receipt of a retention member and a plurality of apertures defined therethrough between the first and second contact surfaces. An exemplary flow path assembly comprises adjacent first and second components and a flow discourager that includes first and second contact surfaces in contact with the first and second components, respectively. The first and second contact surfaces each have a three-dimensional geometric shape to maintain contact with the first and second components. Each discourager may be formed from a ceramic matrix composite material.
