A method for managing power consumption of a radio access network. The method includes: defining a cluster including at least two radio resource units of the radio access network; defining a parameter indicative of a performance of the cluster and of a power consumption of the cluster, the parameter being expressed as a function of traffic throughputs carried by the radio resource units of the cluster; calculating optimum traffic throughputs as values of the traffic throughputs carried by the radio resource units of the cluster which optimize the parameter; and distributing traffic amongst the radio resource units of the cluster such that the radio resource units of the cluster carry the calculated optimum traffic throughputs.

A method for characterizing interference in a radio communication system including a plurality of user equipment communicating with transceiver stations, includes: determining quantities indicative of interference (attenuation or power) experienced by a transceiver station interfered by interfering user equipment; and exchanging between transceiver stations information based on these quantities and concerning interference from the interfering user equipment. In particular, the user equipment is in communication with respective serving transceiver stations, and exchanging includes sending from the serving transceiver stations to the interfered transceiver stations information concerning interference from user equipment served by the serving transceiver stations and interfering with the interfered transceiver stations. The method further includes grouping, by the serving transceiver station, the interfering user equipment according to a given grouping criterion in order to form groups thereof.

A resource management apparatus adapted to implement resource management policies for the management of resources of a system, being susceptible of being assigned to entities requesting services to the system. A system and related device emulates the behavior of mobile networks independently from the manner of collecting data about the behavior of the network obtained through a simulation of field measurements. The system emulates the behavior of the network during the exchange of information between terminals and uses an emulation device comprising two circuit blocks. The first is able to process the information according to time sequences corresponding to those of mobile networks. The second one exchanges information between the terminals connected to suitable interfaces. This architecture makes it possible to emulate uplink and downlink functions of the mobile network, displaying on the terminals the effects of the behavior of the network under various operating conditions.
