A novel system and method for degassing HS and HSfrom liquid sulfur (sulphur) is disclosed. The system includes a degassing vessel with a plurality of cells. The cells include a sparging gas mat with a perforated surface at the bottom of the cell to allow the release of air bubbles (or sparging gas) into the cells. A catalyst may be used during the process. As a result, hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen polysulfide are efficiently and effectively removed from the liquid sulfur.

Sulfur degasser apparatus and method

Sulfur (or sulphur) spray nozzles disposed with a tank spray liquid molten sulfur into the cooling liquid in the tank. Solid sulfur seeds are formed in the cooling liquid and settle in the tank. The tank may be a spiral dewaterer tank that has a screw conveyor at the bottom of the tank that moves the seeds to a granulating drum for enlargement into sulfur granules. The tank may also he used to capture and remove sulfur dust from a slurry of sulfur dust and water recycled from the granulating drum. The sulfur dust in the cooling tank may be captured by contact with molten sulfur droplets streaming down the cooling liquid column such that the dust particles become incorporated into the droplet, thereby being converted to seed. The granulating drum may be equipped with two or more sets of segmented lifting flights. The sets of flights may not be in alignment. The flights may be spaced apart from the inside surface of the drum with segmented rib members. The rib members may allow for the movement of sulfur seeds and granules between the nights and the inside surface of the drum as the drum rotates.

Sulfur granulator system and method

Sulfur seeds may be produced by spraying liquid molten sulfur from a sulfur spray nozzle into a moving stream of liquid. Some of the sulfur may pass through the liquid and some of the sulfur may be entrained in and transported by the stream of liquid, or all of the sulfur may be entrained in the stream of liquid. The sulfur droplets that are entrained in the stream of liquid may be carried by the liquid to a cooling tank, which may be a spiral dewaterer tank with an angled bottom and a screw conveyor. An opening may be made in the bottom surface of the screw conveyor housing of the spiral dewaterer tank for liquid to drain from the screw conveyor as it moves sulfur seeds from the tank to a the drum. A screen may be disposed across the opening, and a drain trough attached to the screw conveyor housing to capture any liquid and solids that move through the screen. A wash line may assist in moving solids that pass through the screen.

Method and system for generating sulfur seeds in a moving liquid

Method and system for generating sulfur seeds and granules

A method and apparatus are provided for generating seed particles. In one technique, a spray of water droplets is discharged to intersect a spray of liquid sulphur droplets to effect contact between some of the sulphur droplets and water droplets. The cooling sulphur droplets form seed particles. In another technique, water is sprayed into dispersed sulphur granules moving through a processing region. Subsequently, as the water is evaporating from the granules, liquid sulphur is sprayed onto the granules. Some of the liquid sulphur droplets impinge upon the water film-coated granules and solidify to form new seed particles which become detached from the granules. In another technique, a stream of liquid sulphur is discharged under pressure into a receiving region. A plurality of jets of atomizing fluid are injected into the stream to form a spreading spray of liquid sulphur droplets which solidify into seed particles.
