A pipe connection arrangement for a fluid management system includes a pipe nut for releasably connecting an end portion of a pipe to a fluid port of the fluid management system. The pipe nut has a first portion having a toothed outer profile and a second portion configured to engage with a connection point portion of said fluid management system. An elongated drive member having a first end portion with a toothed outer profile is configured to cooperate with the toothed outer profile of the pipe nut, the first end portion further being configured to concentrically engage with a supplementary guide member adapted to be fixedly arranged adjacent the connection point portion of said fluid management system. When the elongated drive member is in engagement with the supplementary guide member, and the second portion of the pipe nut is in engagement with the connection point portion, the toothed outer profile and the toothed outer profile of the pipe nut are permitted to mesh together such that a rotation of said elongated drive member causes a corresponding rotation of the pipe nut for clamping the end portion to the fluid port or unclamping the end portion from the fluid port.

A fuel injection system includes a first high pressure fuel source, a return channel connected to a second low pressure fuel source, a residual pressure regulator having an inlet and an outlet connected to the return channel, and a fuel injector having a control valve arrangement comprising an inlet, an outlet and a return port, a fuel injection nozzle having an outlet chamber, an injection outlet, and a needle member in the outlet chamber. The needle member is biased to a closed position to block fluid communication between the outlet chamber and the injection outlet, and to open fluid communication by a pressure in the outlet chamber. The residual pressure regulator is connected to a spill valve to regulate pressure to a residual pressure higher than the pressure in the return channel and lower than the pressure of the first fuel source.

Compressed air purging arrangement for an exhaust gas aftertreatment system

An arrangement for supplying fuel from a fuel pressure source located on an outside of an engine enclosure to a fuel injector located on an inside of the engine enclosure includes a fuel pipe for transporting fuel from the fuel pressure source to the fuel injector via an opening in the engine enclosure, and a seal for sealing the fuel pipe at the opening. The seal includes a first part configured for a sealing contact around the fuel pipe and a second part configured for a sealing contact around a sleeve extending around the opening. An internal combustion engine provided with such an arrangement and a method for providing an internal combustion engine with such an arrangement are also provided.

In a method for avoiding a runaway condition of an internal combustion engine that includes a cylinder, an operational characteristic of the engine, presumed to be caused by an unrequested introduction of hydrocarbon into the cylinder, is detected and the engine is derated in dependence of the detection, and, while the engine is derated, a test procedure is performed to detect an unrequested introduction of hydrocarbon into the cylinder.

Method for avoiding a runaway condition of an internal combustion engine

An exhaust gas recirculation arrangement is provided for a power system, the power system including an internal combustion engine, an exhaust gas system and an intake system including an inlet air compressor, the exhaust gas recirculation arrangement including a first exhaust gas recirculation path and a second exhaust gas recirculation path for recirculating exhaust gas from the exhaust gas system to the intake system. The first and second exhaust gas recirculation paths are adapted to recirculate exhaust gas to the same side of the inlet air compressor, in an intended direction of flow of inlet air in the power system, wherein the exhaust gas recirculation arrangement includes a flow controller, preferably the flow controller includes a valve connected to the second exhaust gas recirculation path, for controlling the flow volume through at least one of the first and second exhaust gas recirculation paths.

An inlet system for an internal combustion engine is provided and includes a compressor including a rotor, and an air guide arranged to guide an air flow from an air inlet to at least one cylinder of the engine via the compressor. The inlet system also includes at least two fluid sources, and at least two fluid guiding elements each arranged to guide a fluid from a respective of the fluid sources to the air guide, between the air inlet and an outlet of the compressor, that the fluid guiding elements present a first conduit for guiding a fluid from a first of the fluid sources, and a second conduit for guiding a fluid from a second of the fluid sources, and that a restriction of a flow of the fluid from the first fluid source is provided by a downstream end of the first conduit and the rotor, whereby a downstream end of the second conduit is arranged so that a pressure drop provided by the restriction drives fluid through the second conduit towards the downstream end of the second conduit.

Inlet system for an internal combustion engine

A fuel pump assembly for pressurizing fuel such as dimethyl ether (DME). The fuel pump assembly includes a plunger assembly and a pump block defining a pumping chamber and a plunger assembly cavity in communication with the pumping chamber. The plunger assembly is movable at least partially in the plunger assembly cavity towards and from the pumping chamber. The fuel pump assembly includes a metering valve and a suction channel located between the metering valve and the pumping chamber in an intended direction of flow of the fuel, wherein the fuel pump assembly comprises a leakage return conduit, with a first leakage return conduit opening in fluid communication with said plunger assembly cavity, adapted to return fuel that has leaked from the pumping chamber. The leakage return conduit includes a second leakage return conduit opening located in the suction channel.

Fuel pump assembly

A fuel storage system is provided for storing dimethylether (DME), a blend including DME, or other similar highly volatile fuel at a vehicle. The fuel storage system including a main storage tank, an expansion tank, a fuel filling receptacle configured to receive a fuel filling nozzle of a filling station, and a valve arrangement having at least a normal operating setting and a fuel filling setting. The valve arrangement in the normal operating setting provides a fuel passage between the main storage tank and the expansion tank, and the valve arrangement in the fuel filling setting both provides a fuel passage between the fuel filling receptacle and the main storage tank and prevents fuel flow between the main storage tank and the expansion tank. The fuel storage system is configured to mechanically prevent disconnection of the fuel filling nozzle from the fuel filling receptacle unless the valve arrangement is in the normal operating setting. A corresponding method, as well as a further example embodiment of the fuel storage system, are also provided.

Fuel storage system

A fuel system is provided for supplying pressurized fuel, in particular dimethyl ether (DME) or a blend thereof, to an internal combustion engine. The fuel system includes a fuel pump, which has a pumping mechanism arranged partly in a housing containing lube oil, a drain line connected to the housing and suitable for draining at least fuel vapor from an interior of the housing, a lube oil supply line connected to the housing, a lube oil supply valve installed in the lube oil supply line, a seal installed between the pumping mechanism and the housing for preventing at least lube oil leakage to the outside of the housing, and a drain valve installed in the drain line, wherein both the drain valve and lube oil supply valve are controlled to be closed during an engine non-running state for preventing fuel vapor leakage from the housing.

Fuel system and method for reducing fuel leakage from a fuel system

A hydraulic system includes a high pressure fluid source and a hydraulic actuator fluidly connected to the high pressure fluid source, and a low pressure fluid system fluidly connected to the hydraulic actuator via a fluid return line, and a hydraulic valve. The hydraulic valve includes a return spring and an elongate member, which is movably arranged in its longitudinal direction for controlling a fluid flow. The elongate member is biased to a closed position by the return spring. The elongate member forms a needle, the hydraulic valve includes a needle receiving body having a needle seat and the needle is engageable with the needle seat so as to control the fluid flow.

A fuel injection system with a high-pressure fuel injection pomp is provided for pressurizing fuel and delivering it for injection into an internal combustion engine. The system and the high-pressure fuel injection pump have an inlet, a return port, at least one plunger, a suction, channel positioned between the inlet and plunger, and a bleed valve connectively arranged at the suction channel of the high-pressure fuel injection pump, A selector valve is provided between the inlet, and return port.

A fuel system includes a low pressure fuel system, a high-pressure fuel pump, a common rail, at least one fuel injector, and an engine management system. The engine management system may initiate a recirculating cooling fuel flow through the high-pressure fuel pump for avoiding fuel boiling by either increasing the target pressure of the fuel within the common rail above a threshold level, which triggers opening a high-pressure fuel relief valve, such that fuel supplied by the high-pressure fuel pump is returned to the low pressure fuel system via the high-pressure fuel relief valve, or providing increased internal fuel leakage within the at least one fuel injector, such that fuel supplied by the high-pressure fuel pump is returned to the low pressure fuel system by a return line.
