A bioluminescent single photon bioreactor for performing absolute quantification of light-producing activity by enzymes includes: a bioreactor that produces a bio-electronic signal; an electronic sensor that receives the bio-electronic signal and produces an electrical transduction signal; and an analyzer that receives the electrical transduction signal and absolutely quantifies light-producing activity by enzymes from the electrical transduction signal, such that the absolute quantification is accomplished quantum mechanically by determination of a second order autocorrelation function.

A system for quantum-enabled error correction includes a receiver configured to receive an optical signal and detect photons. The optical signal includes encoded information that includes communication alphabet symbols. The receiver includes a processor and a memory that instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by the processor, cause the system to: detect photons by the receiver; determine a set of a posteriori Bayesian probability values based on a period of time of a previous state of the LO and based upon the detected photons; update the LO from the previous state to the next state based on the highest a posteriori Bayesian probability; and determine a likelihood of each of the communication alphabet symbols being correct based on the set of probability values. The next state of the LO is a new input state having a highest probability value that the next state matches the state of the optical signal.

Systems and methods for quantum-enabled error correction

A quantum EIT-based optical switch includes a first waveguide, linear or nonlinear, a separate nonlinear waveguide evanescently coupled to the first waveguide, and a pump coupled to the nonlinear waveguide. A quantum STIRAP-based optical transduction device, which includes an auxiliary, intermediate spectral state for the quantum signal that aids efficient transduction of the quantum signal from the input spectral state to the output spectral state in a single device.

Ultra-low-noise, on-chip quantum devices

A quantum flow cytometer for detecting an analyte with photon-number statistics includes: a flow cytometer that: receives a pump light in a first direction; receives an analyte flow comprising the analyte in a second direction; and produces scattered light from scattering the pump light by the analyte; a single photon detector in optical communication with the flow cytometer and that: receives, in a third direction, the scattered light from the flow cytometer; provides a correlative time-of-arrival waveform comprising photon-number statistics as an amplitude and an integrated area, the integrated area being proportional to a number of photons received by the single photon detector, wherein the first direction, the second direction, and the third direction are arranged at oblique angles.

Quantum flow cytometer

A quantum flow cytometer detects an analyte with photon-number statistics and includes: a flow cytometer that receives a pump light, an analyte and produces scattered light from the analyte; an intensity interferometer that includes a beam splitter and receives the scattered light; splits the scattered light; and single photon detectors that receive the scattered light, such that the beam splitter and the single photon detectors provide photon number statistics that detects the analyte. A process for detecting the analyte with photon-number statistics includes: receiving the pump light; producing, by the analyte, scattered light from scattering the pump light; splitting the scattered light into first scattered light and second scattered light; detecting, by single photon detectors, the first scattered light and second scattered light; producing, by the single photon detectors, detection signals; and subjecting the detection signals to an analyzer to detect the analyte by photon number statistics.

A communication linker includes: a classical encoder; an optical transmitter; a receiver; a local oscillator in communication with the receiver and that: receives a feedback signal; and produces a displacement frequency, based on the feedback signal; a single photon detector in communication with the receiver and that: receives an optical signal from the receiver; and produces a single photon detector signal, based on the optical signal; a signal processor in communication with the single photon detector and that: receives the single photon detector signal from the single photon detector; produces the feedback signal, based on the single photon detector signal; and produces a decoded signal, based on the single photon detector signal, the decoded signal comprising a frequency of the feedback signal.
