Embodiments of the present invention are directed towards a method and apparatus for calling virtual machine across processes. In one embodiment, it is determined whether a virtual machine is running in the same process. If a virtual machine is running in the same process, that virtual machine is used. If a virtual machine is running in another process, the application sends commands for the virtual machine to an intermediary application in the same process. The intermediary application passes the commands on to another intermediary application in the process where the virtual machine is running, and that intermediary application sends the commands to the virtual machine. Communication from the virtual machine to the application are performed in the reverse order.

A method for software development that includes receiving, by a computing resource broker, a request to perform a software development operation on a software program using a computing resource, wherein the request is from an integrated development environment (IDE) used to develop the software program, obtaining an authentication protocol for the computing resource from a repository managed by the computing resource broker, authenticating with the computing resource using the authentication protocol, wherein the computing resource broker is authenticated to use the computing resource, sending a request to perform the software development operation to the computing resource, receiving a result of performing the software development operation from the computing resource, and sending the result to the IDE, wherein the result is displayed to a developer of the software program.

Method and system for software development using distributed computing resources

Modules are started-up for a computing system based on start-up data. Start-up data can, for example, include a dependency-matrix indicating start-up dependencies of various modules. Start-up sequences can be determined based on the start-up data and a start-up sequence can be subsequently selected based on one or more criteria. The selected start-up sequence need not include all modules, yet it can list most modules that are likely to be used in or by a computing system. In addition, software (or application) start-up can be controlled based on various criteria. As a result, software start-up is performed more efficiently and more control over system start-up is exercised.
