An apparatus of a setting welding device for an auxiliary joining part with a head and a shaft, includes a linear drive fastenable at the setting device and including an element nest at a movable end, in which an auxiliary joining part is releasably receivable from a transfer unit. The element nest is movable by the linear drive in a first direction. The element nest is supported in a floating manner, and is positionable via a mechanical stop alignment in abutment with an electrode punch in the joining direction below the electrode punch. And/or the element nest is connected with the linear drive via a mechanical direction-changing coupling component so that the element nest is movable by the linear drive in a second direction so that the auxiliary joining part is positionable at the joining location, wherein the second direction is not parallel to the first direction.

A welding auxiliary joining part with which a welding connection, more particularly a resistance welding connection, can be established between a first component A made of a poorly weldable material and a second component made of weldable material. The welding auxiliary joining part is distinguished by a cylindrical punch shaft that can be punchingly pressed into the first component A approximately rotation-free. The punch shaft has an element head at the head underside of which only one continuous circumferential clamping ring is arranged that projects axially in the direction of the punch shaft.

A setting welding device is set forth for setting stud-like auxiliary joining parts in a plurality of layers of material and subjecting them to a mechanical-thermoforming process on a second layer of material and connecting them to said second layer by way of a welding operation. The present invention describes an element supply device of a setting welding device for a bolt-like welding auxiliary joining part with head and shaft. This element supply device comprises two scissor-like arranged clamping jaw levers which define a blind hole channel with a nest-like end position for receiving the welding auxiliary joining part. Further, the element supply device comprises a first actuator and a second actuator by means of which the nest-like end position can be positioned suitably with respect to an electrode punch.
