Techniques for session transfer between resources are described in which session data for communication sessions is transferred between distinct web-based resources to enable continuation of the communication sessions as navigation between the resources occurs. In one approach, shared session storage accessible to authorized resources is employed to facilitate the transfer of session data. Code embedded in pages for different resources rendered by a browser (or other communication module) operates to store session data for communication sessions in the shared storage. When navigation occurs between different pages, authorizations of the different resources to utilize the shared session storage are determined and communication sessions that are active are maintained across page reloads for the authorized resources. This involves retrieving session data stored in the shared session storage and passing the session data that is retrieved to a communication service to reconnect to the communication sessions after navigation occurs.

Session transfer between resources

Software applications are enabled with multimodal communication capabilities and features associated with enhanced communication systems through a communication application programming interface (API). Applications for document processing, scheduling, audio/video data processing, and/or business operations can exchange communication system data and parameters bi-directionally with components of an enhanced communication system, initiate communication sessions through the application's user interface, and preserve post-communication updates.

Communication interface for non-communication applications

A screen resolution information gathering and reporting system allows access to screen resolution information of attendees of a collaboration session. When attendees first join the collaboration session, each attendee's screen resolution information is gathered. The collected screen resolution information is then provided to the presenter of the collaboration session, for example, when the presenter joins the collaboration session or begins application sharing within the collaboration session.
