Systems and methods for pulse shaping voltage transitions in envelope tracking systems are provided. In one aspect, a radio frequency module includes a power amplifier configured to receive a radio frequency input signal and a voltage source. The power amplifier further configured to amplify a radio frequency input signal using the voltage source to generate an output radio frequency signal. The radio frequency module further includes a multi-level switch modulator configured to receive an envelope signal indicative of an envelope of the radio frequency input signal and generate the voltage source based on the envelope signal at one of a plurality of discrete voltage levels. The multi-level switch modulator is further configured to generate the voltage source using an analog component during transitions between discrete voltage levels and a digital component following the transitions.

Systems and methods for pulse shaping voltage transitions in envelope tracking systems

Apparatus and methods for testing error vector magnitude (EVM) exclusion periods are disclosed. In certain embodiments, a method includes transmitting a first symbol with a first resource block allocation using a transmit chain of a mobile device and transmitting a second symbol with a second resource block allocation different than the first resource block allocation using the transmit chain, the first symbol and the second symbol having a power transient separated by a transient period. The method further includes establishing that the mobile device complies with a transient period specification based on obtaining a first error vector magnitude measurement and a second error vector magnitude measurement when the mobile device is transmitting a symbol sequence that includes the first symbol and the second symbol, the second error vector magnitude measurement delayed from the first error vector magnitude measurement by an error vector measurement exclusion period.

In certain embodiments, a mobile device includes a transceiver including a first DPD circuit that digitally pre-distorts a first digital transmit signal, a second DPD circuit that digitally pre-distorts a second digital transmit signal, and a coefficient comparator circuit that generates a trimming control signal based on comparing a first plurality of coefficients of the first DPD circuit to a second plurality of coefficients of the second DPD circuit. In certain embodiments, an envelope tracking system includes a supply voltage filter, a power amplifier that receives a power amplifier supply voltage through the supply voltage filter, and an envelope tracker that generates the power amplifier supply voltage. The power amplifier provides amplification to a radio frequency (RF) signal that is generated based on digital signal data, and the envelope tracker generates the power amplifier supply voltage based on an envelope signal corresponding to an envelope of the RF signal. The envelope tracking system further includes digital modeling circuitry that models the supply voltage filter and operates to digitally compensate the digital signal data for effects of the supply voltage filter, such as distortion.
