A system displays a set of alerts in an alert view. Each alert indicates a problem associated with a managed resource operating in a storage area network. The system receives a selection of an alert from the alert view, and performs an analysis of managed resource data associated with the managed resource experiencing the alert to identify performance details concerning the alert in relation to the managed resource data. The system then presents the performance details associated with the alert in a performance view. The performance view includes a topology region identifying a location of the managed resource experiencing the alert within the storage area network, and a graph region identifying the alert in relation to managed resource data for the managed resource experiencing the alert.

Methods and apparatus providing root cause analysis on alerts

A SAN activity scheduler provides an integrated view of various types of scheduled activities, provides a summary report of multiple scheduled activities, and provides a seamless interface to drill down into specific details of scheduled activities. The scheduler provides a layout view of the scheduled activities arranged according to activity type (tasks, data collection, or retention) or status (success or failure), a detailed layout of activities scheduled within a particular day or other time interval, and a drill down detail which provides activity specific reports such as logs and collection details about the scheduled activities. In this manner, the scheduler provides the SAN operator with an integrated, all-inclusive interface for directing scheduled activities, presents a unified cohesive interface for quickly assessing the current state of scheduled activities, and drilling down into details on an activity specific basis without leaving the integrated scheduler application.

Methods and apparatus for managing scheduled activities in a storage area network

In a large storage area network (SAN), many administrative tasks perform various operations. Managing the tasks can be a formidable activity. A network management application, operable to identify and manipulate the tasks, organizes the tasks in a common graphical user interface (GUI) which allows task management from a single operator console. The task manager provides a GUI having display panes for managing the tasks. The task manager allows selection and invocation of tasks, in which the same task is identifiable by each of the plurality of attributes. The task manager displays the hierarchy of tasks in a task tree, including selectable task icons, in a task tree pane. The task icons are expandable into the corresponding subtasks and operations in a task list pane, and status details about the operations and task status are displayed in a context detail pane. An operator traverses the task tree to drill down into the operation and completion status of tasks in the task tree.

A backup reporting framework Graphical User Interface (GUI) comprises a combination of components that make it possible to display a Reporting GUI to the customer on the customer's desktop. The framework includes three main components, a server component, a wag-server middleware component, and a monitor server middleware component. The Server Component handles all the operations necessary to start the GUI or Command Line Interface (CLI) interaction with the Middleware Components. The WAG Server Middleware component provides a mechanism for the client application to interact with the server. The WAG Server component gives the client side applications access to data resident on the server and allow for command and control from the client side. The monitor server middleware component also provides a mechanism for the client application to interact with the server. It gives the client side application access to data resident on the server and allows for command and control from the client side. The middleware allows the GUI to get data about the current state of EDM, and display the information graphically.

A CAD/CAM system provides a positive indication to a user that the user has located a cursor so that an object on a two-dimensional sketcher plane has been aligned with a point of interest within three-dimensional model geometry, even though the point of interest may not be within the two-dimensional sketcher plane. The object may be snapped to a projection of the point of interest onto a corresponding location on the two-dimensional sketcher plane. Additionally, an association may be defined so that further manipulation of the point of interest on the model within three dimensions will automatically result in corresponding re-location of the object on the two-dimensional sketcher plane. Additionally, to maintain an appropriate relationship among historical data of the CAD/CAM system, interim geometry, which was generated as a result of user actions performed since the user operated on a particular sketch, is removed prior to the user subsequently operating again on the particular sketch. The interim data is replaced with new data generated as a result of the subsequent sketch session.
