The invention provides for the communicating and editing of media files in wireless portable devices. The invention enables a user to manipulate displayed media content and other types of information stored in a personal media device. A master device may be coupled to a display device such as a television display and bonded to a slave device. A user may through use of either the slave device or the master device manipulate media content. The modified media content may be displayed substantially simultaneously on the television display, the master device, and the at least one slave device.

Provided are apparatuses and methods in a digital broadcast transmission system for providing user interfaces to a mobile device. The invention relates to an interface unit intended to be connected to a parallel connection of a data communication equipment (DCE) or a terminal equipment (DTE). The interface unit comprises multiplexers means (52, 54) for multiplexing connection signals to serial form and vice versa. In the invention, the multiplexers means (52, 54) are connected to parallel connection signals through I/O device (51) comprising an I/O line (L1 . . . L16) for each connection signal. At least some of the I/O lines are automatically selectable as an input or an output and/or connectable to at least two alternative inputs or outputs in the multiplexer (52, 54) for achieving cross-connections, depending on whether the interface is connected to the terminal equipment (DTE) or to the data communication equipment (DCE).

The present invention relates to a method for the correction of a signal distortion caused by a cable at the receiving end. To obtain adaptivity the method according to the invention comprises the steps of treating the received signal by an equalizer circuit, multiplying the output signal of the equalizer circuit by a correction coefficient and combining the signal obtained through the multiplication with the received signal to produce a corrected signal. The method further comprises detecting the corrected signal, taking a sample value of the output of the detector at a prescribed moment and holding the sample value up to the following sampling, comparing the sample value with a prescribed reference value, and determining the value of a new correction coefficient on the basis of the comparison in order to obtain a sample value equalling the reference value.
