The invention relates to a method for forming a mouth roll () to a cup () made of plastic-coated board and to the cup provided with a mouth roll produced by the method. The mouth roll for stiffening the cup is produced with a suitable striking tool bending the board at the mouth of the cup. In accordance with the invention, the mouth roll is additionally stabilized by melting the plastic coating () of the board under heat so that the opposite surfaces of the board adhere to each other by heat-sealing in the area of the roll. Melting can be performed e.g. by hot-air blasting directed to the mouth roll at is production stage.

Method of forming a mouth roll to a cup of plastic coated board and a cup made by the method

The invention relates to a cup package made of a fiber-based material, such as polymer-coated packaging board, comprising a cup () containing a packaged product () and a lid () closing the mouth of the cup. In accordance with the invention, the cup () has a collar () bent downwardly from the mouth of the cup and diverging from the cup skirt (), and the lid () has a rim () oriented accordingly downwardly from the collar, the lid being fixed in position by heat-sealing between said collar and rim parts. For opening the package, the lid () can be equipped with a tear strip () surrounding its rim (). In addition, the lid () may be nested with the cup (), so that compression and friction between their opposite surfaces retain the lid in position in the reclosed package.

The invention relates to a method in the wet end of a web forming process. In the method, at least one electrode pair () is placed in the wet end. The electrode pair () is supplied with a current/voltage from a power source (), so that an electric field is set up between the electrode pair (), causing the material particles in the pulp suspension in the wet end to be electrically charged in a desired manner and to move in a desired manner in the pulp suspension in the wet end. The current/voltage of the power source () is controlled by means of a measuring and control unit () so as to cause the material particles in the pulp suspension to be electrically charged and to move in a desired manner, thus allowing the retention, formation and orientation of the material particles in the pulp suspension to be substantially improved.

Method for use in the wet end of a paper machine, cardboard machine or an equivalent web forming machine

A method and equipment for molding an article produced from paperboard or cardboard. Moulding is carried out by a molding tool that mechanically works the board; and to improve its moldability, momentary irradiation on the microwave frequency is exerted on the board. The method applies to the manufacture of packages and disposable containers made of paperboard or cardboard; for example, to the forming of a rolled-up or folded rim around a drinking cup, mug or a container, the forming of a stiffening crease or projection on a paperboard container, or to press molding of paperboard containers or plates.
