There are provided measures for assisted distributed gateway selection. Such measures exemplarily comprise (as control plane network entity functionality in a mobile network scenario where an access of a terminal to a network is movable between at least two base stations and routable in parallel via at least one local gateway and a centralized gateway) detecting movement of said access of said terminal from a first base station to a second base station, determining that a first network route which is a current network route from said terminal via a first local gateway which is a current local gateway of said at least one local gateway provides less network performance than a second network route from said terminal via a second local gateway of said at least one local gateway based on a result of said detecting, and deciding said second local gateway as a target local gateway for said terminal based on a result of said determining.

Assisted distributed gateway selection

A device communicates with a terminal in association with at least a first other device, using at least two carriers, wherein at least a first carrier towards the terminal is established from the device and at least a second carrier is established towards the terminal from the first other device. The device receives a report indicative of a connection quality of the first carrier, responsive thereto issues a request for handover of the first carrier towards a second device, sends relocation information in relation to the first carrier towards the first other device, and only after sending that relocation information, commands the terminal to perform a handover of the first carrier to the second device. Such device, in cooperation with other devices, accomplishes an optimized handover in terms of a primary component carrier relocation from a serving eNB towards a target eNB, while a secondary component carrier is maintained.

The method may include receiving, by a target base station, localized routing context information for a user equipment, wherein the localized routing context is received from at least one of a user gateway or a controlling mobility gateway; and sending, by the target base station, updated localized routing context information to at least one other base station, wherein the updated localized routing context information is sent via a local interface between the target base station and the at least one other base station. Context preparation

A method for providing a bearer service in a communications system is disclosed. The method includes establishing a radio bearer service between a network apparatus and a user terminal, for transmitting messages over an air interface, such that a point-to-point radio bearer is to be used for transmitting unicast messages and its associated shared point-to-multipoint broadcast radio bearer in downlink is to be used for transmitting one or more of broadcast and multicast messages from a local IP network via the network apparatus to user terminals. Messages received from the point-to-point radio bearer and its associated point-to-multipoint broadcast radio bearer in downlink are combinable in the user terminal to a single connection emulating one or more of a broadcast and multicast capable media respectively over the air interface.

A primary connection to a user terminal configured to operate using dual connectivity is maintained. A first control interface is maintained to a first radio node maintaining a secondary connection to the user terminal configured to operate using dual connectivity, the first radio node providing a local gateway for the user terminal. A second control interface is maintained to a core network and a local gateway towards a core network is emulated by providing control plane functions of the local gateway provided by the first radio node towards the core network over the second control interface. Management of a protocol interface for a heterogeneous network connection

The present invention proposes methods, devices and computer program products in relation to enhancements for providing for RAN based LGW selection. Two basic options for the RAN based improved solution are presented for scenarios in which HeNB sends a list of the available LGW addresses/identities and the APNs supported by the different LGWs. According to option 1, if more than one LGW can support a given APN, then the H(e)NB only sends the address of the preferred LGW (e.g., based on local network topology) for the given APN. According to option 2, the HeNB sends priority value (s) with the addresses of the LGWs (for the LGWs only (irrespective of supported APNs) or for (only) the APNs supported by each LGW. Then, the MME/SGSN may consider this priority value (s) at the LGW selection.
