A mechanism to ensure that the same server/proxy is selected by different server/proxy discovery mechanisms executed in a network control element and a terminal equipment, respectively. A first selection of a server/proxy is executed by a network control element on the basis of a first discovery procedure. Then, a second selection of a server/proxy is started by a terminal equipment on the basis of a second discovery procedure. A relay agent element is used for responding to the request on behalf of a configuration server or for modifying a configuration server response so that the same server/proxy is selected by the network control element and the terminal equipment.

Mechanism for executing server discovery

A method for setting up data sessions in a communication system is provided. The method comprises registering at least one user equipment with a service provider where after information about media capabilities is communicated between the at least one user equipment and the service provider and then stored. The method comprises further sending a request for a data session with at least one user equipment and using the stored information when setting up the requested data session. A communication system, an application server and a user equipment configured to operate accordingly are also provided.

Setting up communication sessions

A method, system and network device routes a message to a temporarily unavailable network user, wherein a subscription to a registration state of the network user is initiated if the network user is indicated as being unavailable. Then, a notification is generated, when the registration state of the network user is changed to indicate a state when the network user is available again or when the network user is registered again, and the message is routed to the network user in response to receiving the notification. Thereby, network elements or servers generating messages can be informed about the connection state of the network user.

Method, system and network device for routing a message to a temporarily unavailable network user

The invention relates to a service provisioning method in a communication system. In the method information regarding a communication control entity capable of servicing a user of the communication system is received at a first entity associated with the communication system from a storage entity. Based on said information, an originating request is then signalled from the first entity to the communication control entity.

Service provisioning in a communication system

This invention presents a service of barring the forwarded calls. According to the invention, a subscriber may define in his subscriber information that all calls forwarded to him are to be rejected. In response to receiving a request for establishing a call to a subscriber, his subscriber information is checked to find out if he has defined that calls forwarded to him are to be rejected. If the subscriber information shows that the subscriber wishes to reject the forwarded incoming calls, the call establishment signaling is studied to find out if the call has been forwarded. If the call is determined to have been forwarded, the call is rejected. In a preferred embodiment the subscriber may define a set of allowed numbers from which even the forwarded calls are to be accepted.

Handling of forwarded calls

An apparatus and a method are provided for multiplexing different sessions using the same authorized contexts for media. The method includes distinguishing different control plane sessions by a user equipment, and identifying media flows of a same application among the different control plane sessions by the user equipment by setting a service identifier. The method further includes sending the service identifier by the user equipment to a call state control function including a policy decision function, and authorizing quality of service for a user plane context by the policy decision function. Furthermore, the method includes enabling, by the policy decision function based on the service identifier, the different control plane sessions with media flows of the same application to share the same user plane context with the authorized quality of service to multiplex the different control plane sessions with media flows of the same application.

Multiplexing media components of different sessions

The invention relates to a method and a mobile communication system for transmitting the identity of a calling subscriber to a called subscriber in a mobile communication system comprising a home location register for permanent storage of subscriber data on mobile stations registered in the network, and at least one visitor location register for temporary storage of subscriber data on mobile stations located in the geographical area monitored by the visitor location register. The identity of subscriber A is transmitted to the mobile services switching center of subscriber B via signaling that is unrelated to the speech connection.

Method for transmitting the identity of a calling subscriber to a called subscriber in a mobile communication system

Method and arrangement for handling network specific subscriber data during roaming by use of SIM card information storage

A method, a system, or an article of manufacture provides Mobility Management (MM), for example, an update procedure, in a Core Network (CN) of a mobile communication system. The Mobile Station (MS) includes an indicator which defines an update type. The update type includes: all CN entities; one type of CN entity only. If the indicator has the update type of all CN entities, the MS registers all CN entities. If the indicator has the update type of one type of CN entity only, the MS registers the one type of CN entity only. The CN entities may be MSC/NVLR CN entity, SGSN CN entity, or other CN entity. The method includes the MS determining to which of the CN entity to perform the update procedure; the MS updating the CN entity; the CN acknowledging the MS whether update is successful or failed; and the CN acknowledging the MS whether update of other CN entity is needed, if needed, the CN defining to which of the CN entity to perform update, and continuing the update of the defined CN entity. The MS does not have to know the services subscribed to a user, nor does the MS have to know the configuration of the CN.

Indicator in the mobility management (MM) procedures to specify the procedure type executed in the core network (CN) entities

A cellular radio access network and a location updating in a cordless communications system, in a cellular radio access network ( ), which is connected to one or more core networks ( ) or services (SP to SP ), each of them having a dedicated mobility management. A method of managing a subscriber service by an intelligent network service in a telecommunications system, which comprises a mobile communication network including a home location register and at least one switching center; and an intelligent network including a service control point and a number of network elements with a service switching function. An intelligent network service is inserted into the service control point, the intelligent network service comprising a management function which is activated in response to the fact that a detection point having a predetermined trigger condition is encountered. The home location register comprises a service switching function, or at least the part of it essential for processing a detection point. An intelligent network service detection point whose trigger condition includes a condition that a situation should exist in which the mobile subscriber wants to manage the subscriber service or the intelligent network service related to it himself. When the home location register detects that the predetermined trigger condition is fulfilled, it sends an initial message to the service control point to activate the management function. The service control point sends the necessary intelligent network service instructions to the home location register.
