A set of performance-related data that represents both normal and abnormal conditions in the network is determined and stored in a mobile station MS. The set or a sub-set of this data is transmitted to a computer for analysis upon a triggering event, and the MS user is informed of the analysis results. The triggering event is receipt by the MS of an encrypted message to transmit the set or sub-set of the data. The MS decrypts the received message using an associated public key stored in the MS and transmits the set or the sub-set of the performance-related data only in response to correctly decrypting the encrypted message. The public key is one of a set of public keys stored in the mobile station, wherein individual members of the set are associated with applications executable by the MS in cooperation with a received encrypted command or encrypted data set.

A method for performing 3/5 major voting in the TACS/AMPS mobile phone system, in which a word of the message frame is transmitted repeated five times and every bit of the word is given a value at reception by major voting of the five repeats. The number of ones or zeros of a bit C is counted at least to three. This number is saved as a binary two-bit number B&prime;A&prime; in two memories ( ) so that the first ( ) contains the least significant bit A&prime; of the number B&prime;A&prime; and the second ( ) contains the most significant bit B&prime; of the number B&prime;A&prime;. After the fifth repeat of the bit C, the final number of ones or zeros of the bit C has been counted and saved in the memories ( ) and voting is performed on the bit C based on bits A&prime; and B&prime; indicating the number of ones or zeros.

Method and circuit for performing 3/5 major voting

The data decoding logic arrangement of the invention provides 3/5 voting on data blocks received (1) in a frame. The decoded data (12) is preferably clocked out during reception of the first data block of the next frame, in synchronism with the clock frequency (2) generated from the received data bit flow. The inventive procedure is used on FOCC and FVC channels in the TACS/AMPS mobile phone system.

Data decoding logic in a mobile phone

The inventive data decoding system provides 3/5 voting on data blocks (1 . . . 11) received in a frame. A counter circuit of the system counts the bits in the data blocks and raises a repeat flag (RFLAG) at the end of each data block. The RFLAG signal causes an interrupt in a controlling processor, enabling the processor to monitor and control the receiving synchronism. The inventive procedure can be used on Forward Control Channel (FOCC) and Forward Voice Channel (FVC) channels in the Total Access Communication System (TACS) or the Advanced Mobile Phone Services (AMPS) mobile phone systems.
