The present disclosure is drawn to powder bed materials. The powder bed material can include from 20 wt % to 95 wt % of a large particulate metal and from 5 wt % to 80 wt % of a small particulate metal. The large particulate metal can have a D50 particle size distribution value ranging from 20 μm to 100 μm and an average aspect ratio from 1:1 to 1.1:1. The small particulate metal can have a D50 particle size distribution value ranging from 1 μm to 15 μm and an average aspect ratio from greater than 1.1 to 2.1.

Powder bed materials

A system to apply uniform layers of metal powder, the system includes: a conductive roller with a dielectric coating, the conductive roller biased at a first voltage; a powder supply to contain a metal powder biased at a second voltage, the powder supply to provide the metal powder to the conductive roller to form a uniform layer of metal powder on the dielectric coating of the conductive roller; a deposition area to receive the uniform layer of metal powder from the conductive roller, the deposition area biased at a third voltage, wherein the metal powder is transferred across an air gap from the conductive roller to the deposition area by electrostatic attraction of the metal powder.

An example method for additive manufacturing of metals includes spreading a build material including a metal in a sequence of layers. Each layer has a respective thickness, a respective sequence position, and a respective exposed surface to receive energy from a flood energy source prior to spreading of a subsequent layer. Each respective exposed surface has a surface area of at least 5 square centimeters (cm). Layer-by-layer, the exposed surface of each layer is exposed to the radiated energy from the flood energy source. The energy is radiated at an intensity profile and a fluence sufficient to cause a consolidating transformation of the build material in the exposed layer.

Additive manufacturing of metals

Introduced here is a face mask system having a mask enclosure that contains, or otherwise directly supports, an automated liquid-droplet dispensing mechanism (ADM) for humidification. In operation, the enclosure and ADM are compact and lightweight so that when worn by a user can be supported entirely by the user's head and neck. The enclosure can be comprised of one or more layers of breathable fabric adapted to flexibly conform to the face of a user when worn and form a cavity that is adjacent to the user's nostrils and mouth. The ADM can be comprised of a reservoir in which liquid is stored, a respiratory cycle detector, a timer and controller, and a droplet dispenser that controllably dispenses droplets of the liquid from the reservoir into the cavity for inhalation by the user.

An in-situ monitoring device for selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing may include at least one coherent electromagnetic wave source to produce a detection beam, an interferometer interposed between the electromagnetic wave source and a target detection area, a photodetector to detect displacement measuring interference between electromagnetic waves from the electromagnetic wave source and reflected electromagnetic waves from the target detection area through the interferometer, and control logic to cause the detection beam to follow a print path of a material forming laser at a distance behind the material forming laser. The detection beam is placed on a laser-melted and at least partially solidified portion of a layer of a three-dimensional (3D) object formed by the material forming laser.

Selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing

A system for compacting layers of metal powder, including: a layer of metal powder at a first voltage; and a conductive object above the layer of metal powder, the conductive object at a second voltage, wherein a voltage differential between the layer of metal powder and the conductive object is sufficient to attract particles from the layer of metal powder to the conductive object, change the voltage on the particles, and redeposit the particles in the layer of metal powder.

Embodiments of the present invention describe electrical potential energy to electrical kinetic energy converters, ozone generators, and light emitters. A system for energy conversion from electrical potential energy to electrical kinetic energy may include a discharge device and a power supply. The power supply can be coupled with the discharge device, and supplies energy to the discharge device to form an initial electric field. The discharge device may further include at least two electrodes that are either mesh electrodes or wire-array electrodes. Furthermore, a space between the at least two electrodes is filled with a gas medium and an electric field is created by the power supply in a normal direction relative to planes formed by the elements of electrodes.

A binary ink developer (BID) assembly for a liquid electrophotography (LEP) printing device can include a developer roller having an electrically insulating exterior coating that receives ink from an ink supply and transfers the received ink to a photoconductive imaging cylinder in accordance with an electrostatic image on the imaging cylinder. A charge-specified boundary condition can exist at the boundary between the exterior coating and the ink. Electrically conductive ink may not be transferred to the imaging cylinder at background portions of the electrostatic image.

Embodiments of the present invention describe the formation of a current source, a light source, and an ozone generator by using a coated double dielectric barrier discharge system (CDDBD). A system for generating charge may include a CDDBD having at least two electrodes that are separated by a gap filled with a gas medium, wherein each of the at least two electrodes are covered with an insulator that prevents charges in the at least two electrodes from passing through the gas medium, and wherein surfaces of each of the at least two insulators are coated with a material having a secondary electron emission coefficient higher than a material of the insulator. Furthermore, the system for generating the charge may also include a power supply coupled with the CDDBD device that supplies energy to the CDDBD device to form an initial electric field.

Energy-efficient plasma processes of generating free charges, ozone, and light

A photoconductive layer in an image forming apparatus is refreshed. A first refreshing cycle is performed, including applying, at a first refresh unit, a first refresh voltage to the photoconductive layer and applying, at a second refresh unit, a second refresh voltage to the photoconductive layer. A second refreshing cycle is performed, including applying, at the first refresh unit, a third refresh voltage to the photoconductive layer, the third refresh voltage being higher than the first refresh voltage and higher than the second refresh voltage. Each of the first and second refreshing cycles electrically bias the photoconductive layer to a refresh polarity opposite to a print polarity applied during a print routine of the image forming apparatus.
