The display device further includes a plurality of first-type sensors including a first first-type sensor, the first first-type sensor being configured to provide a first output signal according to at least the first gate signal. The display device further includes a processing part electrically connected to the first first-type sensor and configured to use the first output signal for determining a first coordinate value associated with a touch applied on the display device.

A display device includes a first display substrate, which provides an input surface and includes a blocking area and a plurality of opening areas, and first and second touch sensors disposed in the blocking area. The first touch sensors receive different scan signals according to an operation mode thereof. The second touch sensors output first sensing signals on the basis of a variation in capacitance in a first operation mode and output second sensing signals according to a resonant frequency of an input device in a second operation mode.

A display apparatus includes a display panel that displays an image during a display period and detects a touch event during a non-display period. The display panel includes a plurality of common electrodes and a plurality of data lines capacitively coupled to the common electrodes during the non-display period. Coordinate information of a position at which the touch event occurs is calculated on the basis of a capacitance variation of the common electrodes and the data lines.

A 3D image display apparatus includes a light modulator configured to modulate an image light, a difference map generator configured to obtain an absolute value of a difference between a variation value of a left 2D image and a variation value of a right 2D image, an image processor configured to generate 3D image display position information using the absolute value, a light modulator controller configured to partially activate the light modulator in response to the 3D image display position information, an image generator for generating an interlaced image using the left and right 2D images, and an image display device for displaying the interlaced image. The activated area of the light modulator corresponds to an area of the displayed interlaced image, so that the light modulator modulates light provided from the displayed interlaced image, and does not modulate light provided from a remainder of the image.

A display apparatus includes a display panel that displays a second image in a 3D mode, a barrier panel that forms a barrier pattern that separates the second image into a left-eye image and a right-eye image, a touch sensing part that includes third electrodes capacitively coupled to a portion of the electrodes included in the barrier panel, and a coordinate calculator. Liquid crystal display device includes: backlight unit; liquid crystal panel on which image is formed by using light emitted by backlight unit, and comprising: color filter comprising plurality of pixels each of which comprises plurality of subpixels that are alternately arranged and transmit light in different wavelength bands; and liquid crystal layer whose transmittance is adjusted under electrical control; and diffuser disposed on a top surface or a bottom surface of the liquid crystal panel and comprising diffusing areas and transparent areas which alternate with each other at intervals corresponding to the width of the subpixels, wherein the liquid crystal layer comprises liquid crystal areas corresponding to the diffusing areas and liquid crystal areas corresponding to the transparent areas and the transmittances of the liquid crystal areas are adjusted according to the subpixels.
