A display device includes: a first substrate; a first electrode disposed on the first substrate; a liquid crystal layer disposed on the first electrode; a polarizing plate disposed on the liquid crystal layer; a color conversion layer disposed on the polarizing plate and including a plurality of color conversion portions; and a second substrate disposed on the color conversion layer. The polarizing plate includes a polymer film, and a distance between the liquid crystal layer and the color conversion layer is in a range of about 5 &#x3bc;m to about 50 &#x3bc;m.

Display device and manufacturing method thereof

An electrowetting display device includes a first base substrate, a partition wall which is on the first base substrate and partitions pixels, a second base substrate which faces the first base substrate, column spacers which are on the second base substrate and contact the partition wall, an electrowetting layer which is between the first and second base substrates and includes a first fluid and a second fluid immiscible with each other, and channels disposed in a boundary area between the pixels. The second fluid has electrical conductivity or electrical polarity. The boundary area is overlapped with the partition wall and the channels define a flow path of the second fluid. The column spacers are in the boundary area between the pixels except for a boundary area including the channels.

A display apparatus includes a first display substrate, a second display substrate which faces the first display substrate and is coupled to the first display substrate, first and second spacers disposed on one of the first and second display substrates, and a transparent electrode disposed between the one of the first and second display substrates and the first spacer.

A display device includes a substrate, gate lines extended in a first direction on the substrate, data lines extended in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction on the substrate, and pixels connected to the gate and data lines. Each pixel includes a transistor having one end connected to a data line, and a gate electrode connected to a corresponding gate line, a liquid crystal layer disposed in a tunnel-shaped cavity, first and second electrodes for applying an electric field to the liquid crystal layer. At least one of the first fluid and the second fluid has a polarity. The hydrophilic layer allows droplets separated from a hydrophobic fluid of the first and second fluids to be merged with the hydrophobic fluid. Accordingly, a change in amount of the fluids in each pixel is prevented.

Electrowetting display device and method of manufacturing the same

An electrophoretic display apparatus includes a first substrate including a plurality of pixels, a second substrate facing the first substrate, an electrophoretic material between the first and second substrates, and a first electrode on the first substrate or the second substrate. Each pixel includes a reflection part and a second electrode. The reflection part is on the first substrate and reflects light incident through the second substrate. The second electrode is on the first substrate and adjacent to the reflection part. The second electrode forms an electric field with the first electrode such that the electrophoretic material moves to the first electrode or the second electrode. An upper surface of the second electrode is positioned at a first height from the first substrate, and an upper surface of an uppermost layer of the reflection part is positioned at a second height higher than the first height.
