The black matrix pattern is disposed on the base substrate and divides the base substrate into a light transmission area and a light blocking area. The sensing electrode pattern includes a plurality of first unit patterns arranged in association with a first direction. The driving electrode pattern includes a plurality of second unit patterns arranged in association with a second direction and disposed adjacent to the plurality of first unit patterns. The at least one bridge line is connected between at least two of the plurality of first unit patterns or between at least two of the plurality of second unit patterns.

The second sensing loops are electrically separated from the first sensing loops. Each of the second sensing loops includes passing regions at which the first sensing loops pass through. One side of each of the first sensing loops and one side of each of the second sensing loops are open.

Method of detecting a touched position on a touch display of a display apparatus includes determining an amount of an electrical charge generated by a touch on the touch display panel of a display apparatus, determining a difference between the amount of the electrical charge generated from the touch and an amount of a reference electrical charge and comparing this difference to a threshold value, detecting the position of the touch if it is determined that the difference between the amount of the electrical charge generated from the touch and the amount of the reference electrical charge is substantially the same as or larger than the threshold value and detecting the touched position using a pressure according to the touch if it is determined that difference between the amount of the electrical charge and the amount of the reference voltage is smaller than the threshold value.

The first and second notch electrodes are adjacent to respective ends of the main electrode. The first and second notch electrodes extend along the main electrode in the first direction. The second substrate includes a second electrode part and a second base substrate, the second electrode part being disposed on the second base substrate. The second base substrate is disposed opposite to the first base substrate. The fluidic layer controls a light transmittance according to a voltage difference between the first and second electrode parts.

An object-sensing device is presented. The device includes a waveguide and a substrate holding a liquid crystal layer, wherein radiation propagates through the waveguide via total internal reflection. A radiation emitting element is positioned along a radiation input surface of the waveguide, and a radiation receiving element is positioned to receive radiation exiting the waveguide. The radiation receiving element may be positioned across the waveguide from the radiation emitting element. Alternatively, the radiation receiving element may be positioned on a surface that contacts the radiation input surface of the waveguide that is optically coupled to the radiation emitting element.

Object-sensing device

A light sensing assembly includes a first light guide plate ('LGP'), a light-emitting diode ('LED') part, an infrared LED part, a second LGP and a first sensor array. The LED part is at a side portion of the first LGP and emits white lights of a displayed image. The infrared LED part emits infrared lights of a detected touch. The second LGP is below the first LGP. The second LGP guides a path of the infrared lights of the detected touch inputted in accordance with a touch operation. The first sensor array is at a side portion of the second LGP and senses the reflected infrared lights which are guided by the second LGP.

Light sensing assembly and interactive display device having the same

A touch panel includes first and second normally spaced apart substrates. The first substrate includes first spaced apart touch electrodes extended in a first direction and each having a first width (W). The second substrate includes second spaced apart touch electrodes extended in a different second direction and each having a second width (W) which is substantially narrower than the first width. One of the substrates can be flexed so that momentary shorting contact is established between corresponding first and second touch electrodes at positions where pressing touch is provided. A combination of interconnect wirings and interrogation circuits are provided for automatically determining where and when the temporary shorting contacts were made, even if plural ones are simultaneously made. The disclosed embodiments include ones where the number of interconnect wirings are reduced.

A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a second substrate having a first surface and a second surface facing the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer between the first and second substrates, and a touch sensor layer on the first surface. The touch sensor layer includes a first electrode in a first direction on the first surface, a second electrode in a second direction crossing the first direction on the first surface and including first and second portions that are separated by the first electrode, a bridge wire including first and second contacts on the first surface. The first contact is electrically connected to the first portion of the second electrode, and the second contact is electrically connected to the second portion of the second electrode. An insulating layer insulates the bridge wire from the first electrode and exposes the first contact and the second contact.

Liquid crystal display including touch sensor layer and manufacturing method thereof

A polarized light emitting light guide plate includes: a transparent substrate of optically isotropic material, in which the light incident through a lateral side thereof travels; an anisotropic liquid crystal polymer layer formed on an upper surface of the substrate and having first and second refractive indices with respect to first and second perpendicular polarization components; and a polarization separation microstructure formed at an interface between the transparent substrate and the liquid crystal polymer layer, which refracts or reflects the first polarization component and transmits the second polarization component. The refractive index of the polarization separation microstructure is substantially equal to the refractive index of the substrate; the first refractive index of the liquid crystal polymer layer is greater than the refractive index of the substrate, and the second refractive index of the liquid crystal polymer layer light is substantially equal to the refractive index of the substrate.
