Provided is device and method for heating fuel cell stack and fuel cell system having the device. The fuel cell system includes: a power generating unit having fuel cell stacks arranged with an interval defined between the stacks; an outlet manifold unit provided outside each fuel cell stack and guiding a reaction mixture discharged from each stack to outside; an inlet manifold unit provided on each stack at a location opposed to the outlet manifold unit based on the stack, the inlet manifold unit supplying fuel and air supplied through a fuel supply pipe and an air supply pipe into the stack; and a subsidiary fuel supply unit for supplying subsidiary fuel into the outlet manifold unit such that the subsidiary fuel is burnt in the outlet manifold unit so as to heat both the outlet manifold unit and the stack coming into contact with the outlet manifold unit.

Disclosed herein is an apparatus for controlling a fuel cell system, which includes multiple hot boxes including multiple fuel cell stacks, using a reconfigurable network having linear switching complexity, includes: a power conversion system for supplying outputs of normal stacks among the multiple fuel cell stacks to a load; at least one auxiliary power conversion system for supplying an output of at least one deteriorated stack among the multiple stacks to a load; a reconfigurable switch network for connecting in series or in parallel stacks of any hot box to stacks of another hot box; and a control unit for controlling an operation of the reconfigurable switch network by detecting a state of each of the stacks.

Apparatus and method for controlling fuel cell system using reconfigurable switch network

Disclosed herein is an apparatus for controlling a fuel cell heating value. The apparatus includes stack condition sensors which senses conditions of respective fuel cell stacks, and a control unit. Based on conditions of the fuel cell stacks sensed by the stack condition sensors, when at least one conditioning target stack having a heating value that is out of a preset heating value threshold range is sensed, the control unit forms a conditioning target stack group including the sensed at least one conditioning target stack or at least two conditioning target stack groups including the sensed at least one conditioning target stack and connects each of the conditioning target stack groups to at least one of at least two heating value conditioning units.

Disclosed herein is an apparatus for controlling a fuel cell system, including: a plurality of stack state detecting units for detecting respective states of a plurality of fuel cell stacks; a switching unit for connecting at least parts of the plurality of fuel cell stacks to each other in series or in parallel; and a control unit for detecting at least one degraded stack based on the states of the stacks detected by the plurality of stack state detecting units, and forming at least one degraded stack unit including the detected at least one degraded stack by controlling the operation of the switching unit, so the apparatus can quickly and easily connect the stacks to each other in series, in parallel or in series-parallel using cheap electric switches instead of using a plurality of power conditioning system (PCS).
