A separator assembly for a fuel cell includes: a first separator having a protruding bead seal providing a seal; a second separator joined to the first separator to be integrated therewith and having an arched bulge protruding in the same direction as the bead seal at a location corresponding to a location where the bead seal is formed; a gasket provided on a concave surface of the bulge of the second separator at the location where the bulge is formed, the concave surface being opposite to a convex surface of the bulge; and a sealing agent applied to a convex surface of the bead seal of the first separator at the location where the bead seal is formed.

A fuel cell separator includes a first separator plate and a second separator plate for an anode or a cathode. The first and second separator plates are adjacent to each other for assembly in a fuel cell stack. A first protrusion is formed at an edge portion of the first separator plate and protrudes toward the second separator plate arranged facing the first separator plate. A second protrusion is formed at an edge portion of the second separator plate and protrudes toward the first separator plate arranged facing the second separator plate. With the first and second separator plates adjacent to each other, since side surfaces of the first and second protrusions push each other, assembly positions of the first and second separator plates are regulated. The first and second protrusions are arranged such that opposing side surfaces thereof are spaced from each other. A third gasket is arranged in a gap between the first and second protrusions.

The unit cell includes an insert including a Membrane-Electrode Assembly having a first pair of electrode layers formed on a first surface of a polymer electrolyte membrane and a second pair of electrode layers formed on a second surface of the polymer electrolyte membrane, an elastomer frame bonded at a rim of the insert in an outer area of the insert, the elastomer frame having a reaction surface through-hole in which the insert is disposed formed therein and having a plurality of frame manifold through-holes, through which a reactant gas can flow or be discharged, formed at both sides of and spaced apart from the reaction surface through-hole, and a pair of separators, each separator disposed on a respective side of the insert and the elastomer frame.

Elastomeric cell frame for fuel cell, method of manufacturing same, and unit cell having same

A fuel cell stack is provided to improve the flow of cooling water and reactant gas. The fuel cell stack includes a cooling water diffusion portion provided on each of the anode separator and the cathode separator. A first cooling water flow path area is provided between a land formed on the cooling water diffusion portion of the anode separator and a channel formed on the cooling water diffusion portion of the cathode separator. A second cooling water flow path area is provided between a channel formed on the cooling water diffusion portion of the anode separator and a land formed on the cooling water diffusion portion of the cathode separator. In addition, the first cooling water flow path area and the second cooling water flow path area are parallel with each other within at least a part of the cooling water diffusion portions.

Fuel cell stack

A fuel cell stack may include stacking multiple cell units, each of which has a metal first separator plate and a second separator plate positioned opposite to the first separator plate with a membrane electrode assembly interposed therebetween, wherein the first and second separator plates of adjacent cell units are disposed to face each other and bonded to each other by an adhesive, the adhesive having an adhesive property varying according to a temperature change.

A fuel cell separator includes a first separator plate and a second separator plate for an anode or a cathode. The first separator plate and the second separator plate are adjacent to each other for assembly in a fuel cell stack. The fuel cell separator further includes a first protrusion formed at an edge portion of the first separator plate and protruding toward the second separator plate arranged facing the first separator plate and a second protrusion formed at an edge portion of the second separator plate and protruding toward the first separator plate arranged facing the second separator plate. With the first separator plate and the second separator plate adjacent to each other, since opposing side surfaces of the first protrusion and the second protrusion push each other, assembly positions of the first separator plate and the second separator plate are regulated.

Separator for a fuel cell

A fuel cell separator with a gasket for improved sealing is provided. The fuel cell separator with a gasket is capable of improving the contact pressure of a cooling surface-side airtight line by additionally forming a sub-airtight line in a region in which a gas aperture is not formed at a cooling surface-side position that corresponds to the cooling surface-side airtight line of the separator.

The present invention provides a fuel cell separator with a gasket manufactured by integrally forming a gasket on one side of a separator; independently injection molding a frame gasket on a frame such that a first airtight portion covers the entire surface of the frame to maintain the shape of the frame gasket and a second airtight portion projects upward and downward from both ends of the first airtight portion; and bringing the first airtight portion of the frame gasket into contact with the other side of the separator with the gasket formed on one side thereof. To create a fuel cell stack in certain embodiments, the invention stacks the second airtight portion of the frame gasket on another second airtight portion of an adjacent unit cell with a membrane-electrode assembly interposed therebetween.
