An apparatus and method are provided for composing a data input key array with a plurality of keys wherein multiple character groups are assigned to respective ones of the plurality of keys, each of the multiple character groups comprising multiple characters. The multiple characters of each character group are arranged on the corresponding key in the same pattern as the multiple character groups on the data input key array. The data input key array may operate by selecting a particular key assigned with a desired character, and selecting a key disposed to correspond with the position of the desired character on the particular key, thereby displaying the desired character. The data input key array may also be operated by selecting a particular key assigned to a desired character by inputting one of the directional keys, the directional key being disposed to correspond with the position of the particular key.

Method of composing and operating data input key array and apparatus employing the same

A method is provided for registering and displaying digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) channels in a mobile terminal capable of receiving DMB. A selection of DMB mode is detected and electronic program guide (EPG) information is received. The received EPG information is analyzed and the analyzed received EPG information is divided into fixed program channel information and dynamic program channel information. The fixed program channel information is matched with a genre in which a fixed program channel has been registered, and a result of the matching is displayed. The dynamic program channel information is matched with a genre in which a dynamic program channel has been registered and a genre of a program currently being broadcast on the dynamic program channel, and a result of the matching is displayed.

The apparatus and method comprise detecting the subject by performing a preview mode in a camera mode; detecting and storing a focus value while moving the lens by increasing/decreasing electrical current in stages based on a focus characteristic of the detected subject, determining based on a presently-detected focus value and a previously-stored focus value if a slope has changed, and detecting an optimum focus value from a focus value at which the slope has changed; and performing a tracking mode to track a focus in a predetermined zone which includes the detected focus value at a center of the zone. Therefore, the value of electrical current, which is applied to the camera module including the lens that moves to perform the auto-focusing for photographing an image in optimum focus, is controlled according to a distance between a subject and a lens so that the occurrence of unwanted sound caused by motion of the lens can be prevented.
