A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing the first substrate, a gate line and a data line disposed on the first substrate, and a pixel electrode disposed on the first substrate. The pixel electrode is connected to the gate line and the data line, and includes subregions. The liquid crystal display further includes a storage electrode disposed on the first substrate overlapping the pixel electrode to form a storage capacitor, a common electrode disposed on the second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode and including liquid crystal molecules disposed therein. The pixel electrode includes a stem defining boundaries between the subregions, and a width of the stem changes from a center portion of the pixel electrode to a peripheral portion of the pixel electrode.

Liquid crystal display and method of manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display (LCD) device having a first substrate and a second substrate, each having a surface opposite to each other and each including a seal region and a liquid crystal region. The first substrate structure having a black matrix on the surface of the first substrate opposite to the second substrate, a color filter next to the black matrix, a first electrode on the color filter, a first orientation film on the first electrode, and a number of seal column spacers on the black matrix. The second substrate structure having a circuit device disposed on the surface of the second substrate opposite to the black matrix, an organic layer disposed on the second substrate opposite to the color filter, a second electrode on the organic layer, and a second orientation film on the second electrode. The seal is in the seal regions between the first substrate structure and the second substrate structure. A liquid crystal layer fills a space between the first substrate structure and the second substrate structure in the liquid crystal region.

A display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate on the first substrate and facing the first substrate, the second substrate having a first electrode on a surface thereof; a third substrate on the second substrate and facing the second substrate, the third substrate having a second electrode on a surface thereof, the second electrode facing the first electrode and configured to form an electric field between the first electrode and the second electrode; a barrier layer interposed between the second substrate and the third substrate, the barrier layer configured to selectively control transmission and blockage of light in regions thereof corresponding to each of a plurality of pixels; and a first polarizing plate on the third substrate and configured to transmit a portion of light passing through the barrier layer, the portion of light having a first phase, the barrier layer including electrochromic elements.

A display substrate includes a base substrate on which a pixel area is defined. The pixel area includes a first sub-pixel area and a second sub-pixel area. A plurality of first electrode portions is disposed at a first interval in the first sub-pixel area, and a plurality of second electrode portions is disposed at a second interval in the second sub-pixel area. The first electrode portion has a first width, and the second electrode portion has a second width. The first width of the first electrode portion is different from the second width of the second electrode portion, or the first interval between adjacent first electrode portions is different from the second interval between adjacent second electrode portions.

Display substrate, liquid crystal display panel having the same, and method of manufacturing the liquid crystal display panel

A liquid crystal display panel that can maintain sufficient adhesiveness between substrates. A liquid crystal display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, circuit lines disposed in the first substrate, the circuit lines including a color filter common voltage line, and a sealing member interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The circuit lines are disposed in a first area including the color filter common voltage line and a second area that does not include the color filter common voltage line, and the sealing member is disposed closer to the edge of the first substrate than to the second area of the circuit lines.

Liquid crystal display panel

A TFT array panel on which both pixel electrodes and common electrodes are formed and a color filter panel is disposed opposing the array panel, and liquid crystals are interposed therebetween. The liquid crystals are aligned parallel to the two panels and driven by parallel electric field formed between the pixel electrodes and reference electrodes. Polarization films are arranged outsides the two panels, and a quasi-A plate compensation film is arranged between the color filter panel and the polarization film. An LCD according to the present invention includes first and second panels, a common electrode formed within the first or the second panel, a pixel electrode formed within the same panel as the common electrode is formed, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second panels, a lower polarization film arranged under the first panel in which the first polarization film is arranged between the first and the second supporting bodies, and an upper polarization film arranged over the second panel in which the second polarization film is arranged between the third and fourth supporting bodies. Yellow shift in black state is also reduced and contrast ratio of side view is improved by minimizing Rth in supporting films or by using TEG polarization film having small Rth.

Liquid crystal display

In a stereoscopic image conversion panel for enhancing display quality and a stereoscopic image display apparatus having the panel, the stereoscopic display panel includes lower and upper transparent substrates, lower and upper transparent electrodes, and a liquid crystal lens layer. The lower and upper transparent substrates face each other. The lower transparent electrodes are disposed on the lower transparent substrate, formed along a first direction, and formed substantially in parallel with each other along a second direction. The upper transparent electrodes are disposed on the upper transparent substrate, formed along the second direction, and formed substantially in parallel with each other along the first direction. The liquid crystal lens layer is disposed between the upper and lower transparent substrates, and a longitudinal arrangement direction of liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal lens layer is changed by an electric field to have a predetermined refractive index. Therefore, a refracted incident light produces a stereoscopic image for enhancing display quality.

A liquid crystal display and method of manufacturing the same according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention include: a plurality of gate lines formed on a first substrate; a plurality of data lines intersecting the gate lines; a plurality of thin film transistors connected to the gate lines and the data lines; a plurality of pixel electrodes connected to respective thin film transistors, each of the pixel electrodes partially overlapping the data line and including a first sub-electrode and a second sub-electrode; a plurality of storage electrode lines formed on the first substrate, each of the storage electrode lines disposed between the first sub-electrode and the second sub-electrode and including a portion overlapping a respective pixel electrode; a second substrate opposing the first substrate; a common electrode formed on the second substrate, the common electrode including cutouts corresponding to the first sub-electrode and the second sub-electrode; a liquid crystal layer formed between the common electrode and the pixel electrodes; a plurality of bead spacers supporting the first substrate and the second substrate; and a plurality of column spacers formed on the second substrate which do not make contact with the first substrate.
