A liquid crystal display includes first and second gate lines and first and second data lines, on a first substrate, a first thin film transistor connected to the first gate and data lines and including a first source and drain electrode, a second thin film transistor connected to the second gate and data lines and including a second source and drain electrode, first and second pixel electrodes contacting a portion of the first and second drain electrodes, respectively, a passivation layer on the first and second pixel electrodes and the first and second thin film transistors, and a reference electrode on a passivation layer and overlapping the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode. The reference electrode includes a plurality of branch electrodes. The first thin film transistor is right of the first data line and the second thin film transistor is left of the second data line.

Liquid crystal display

An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a display device including: a thin film transistor array panel; an anti-reflective layer overlapping the thin film transistor array panel; and a color conversion display panel positioned between the thin film transistor array panel and the anti-reflective layer, wherein: the color conversion display panel may include a color conversion layer including a semiconductor nanocrystal and a transmissive layer; the anti-reflective layer may include an adhesive layer positioned on the color conversion display panel, a low-reflective layer overlapping the adhesive layer, and a base film positioned between the adhesive layer and the low-reflective layer. A dye is present in one of the layers of the anti-reflective layer.

A liquid crystal display device that includes an array substrate, an opposite substrate and a liquid crystal display layer is described. The array substrate includes a pixel electrode and a lower alignment layer. The pixel electrode has a plurality of slit portions extending in different directions. The lower alignment layer includes a reactive mesogen (RM) diamine is formed on the pixel electrode to induce an alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecules. An upper alignment layer is formed on a common electrode of the opposite substrate. The RM is cured at surfaces of the lower and upper alignment layers in response to ultraviolet (UV) light, so that liquid crystal molecules have a pretilt angle. Therefore, the aperture ratio and the response time may be improved, and afterimages may be decreased, so that display quality may be improved.

Liquid crystal display device, method of manufacturing the same and alignment layer composition for the liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal display panel having a first substrate and a second substrate. An upper polarizer is disposed on an outer surface of the first substrate. A viewing angle control film is disposed on the upper polarizer. The viewing angle control film includes a polarizing layer having a transmission axis substantially parallel to a transmission axis of the upper polarizer and a phase retardation layer including a birefringence material having an optical axis with a poloidal angle of about 40 degrees to about 75 degrees.

Liquid crystal display having a narrow viewing mode

A display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, a first transparent conductive pattern disposed on a surface of the first substrate and including a plurality of openings, and a first polarizing member combined with the first transparent conductive pattern. The display panel may reduce bending due to contraction of the first polarizing member including a drawn polarizing layer. Furthermore, static electricity generated in the second substrate may be discharged thereby improving reliability of a display device including the display panel.

Liquid crystal display panel and liquid crystal display apparatus having the same

An array substrate includes a lower substrate, a switching element and a pixel electrode. In the lower substrate, unit pixel areas are each divided into a plurality of domains. The switching element is disposed on the lower substrate and transmits a pixel signal. The pixel electrode is disposed on the unit pixel area and is electrically connected to the switching element. The pixel electrode includes a plurality of branch portions disposed thereon. A portion of the branch portions is longitudinally extended in a zigzag shape along different directions in correspondence with the domains.
