The present invention relates to a novel gene, IbENOD93, and transgenic plants using the same. More specifically, the present invention provides an IbENOD93 gene, an open reading frame (ORF) of the IbENOD93 gene, a recombinant vector comprising the gene or the ORF, and a transformant transformed with the vector. Moreover, the present invention provides a composition for enhancing root thickening growth and promoting maturation in a plant having storage root(s). Furthermore, the present invention provides a method for producing a transgenic plant having storage root(s) with enhanced thickening growth, and a method for regulating or enhancing root thickening growth and maturation in a plant having storage root(s). According to the present invention, it is possible to promote the thickening growth of storage roots as well as the growth of aerial part. Therefore, the present invention can be effectively used to promote the thickening growth of storage roots of high-value root crops such as ginseng, sweet potato, etc. and to produce early-maturing transgenic plants.

Gene IbENOD93 and transgenic plants using the same

Disclosed herein are a sweetpotato SRD1 cDNA, a plant transformation vector carrying the same, and a transgenic plant comprising the vector. The thickening growth of storage roots of the transgenic sweetpotato prepared using the SRD1 cDNA is stimulated, increasing the number of storage roots by up to two times. Therefore, SRD1 according to the present subject matter is useful in the generation of transgenic root crops with high-numbered storage roots or early-maturing storage root plants.

Disclosed herein are antisense DNA of a sweetpotato expansin (IbExpansin) cDNA, a plant transformation vector carrying the same, and a method for increasing storage root production using the same. The transgenic sweetpotatoes prepared using the antisense DNA of IbExpansin cDNA have storage root production increased by up to one and half times. Thus, the gene is useful in the generation of highly productive transgenic storage roots for the increase of bioethanol production.

Antisense DNA of sweetpotato expansin cDNA and method for increasing storage root yield using the same

Disclosed herein are a sweetpotato expansin cDNA (IbExpansin), a plant transformation vector carrying the same, and a transgenic plant comprising the vector. The transgenic, prepared using the IbExpansin cDNA, outgrows the wild-type, thereby increasing in size and seed production up to three times. Thus, the gene is useful in the generation of highly productive transgenic plants for improvement in biomass and/or seed production.

Sweetpotato expansin cDNA and high-yield transgenic plants using the same

Disclosed herein are a novel sucrose-inducible promoter sequence and a 5' untranslated region which are derived from sweetpotato ADP-glucose pyrophosphorlyase gene (ibAGP1) (SEQ ID NO: 1). Also disclosed are expression vectors using the same sequences and a transgenic plant using the same vectors. The promoter and 5&#x2032; untranslated region according to the present invention can confer a high level of sucrose-inducible expression in plants, particularly in plant storage roots which contain sucrose in relatively large quantities to accumulate starch in large quantities in plants. Therefore the present invention may be useful for the generation of transgenic plants to produce useful proteins in large quantities in plant storage roots.

Sucrose-inducible promoter from sweetpotato

The present invention relates to a promoter directing high levels of expression of a gene in plant storage roots, derived from the sweet potato MADS-box gene, a vector directing high levels of expression of a gene in plant storage roots comprising the same and a transient assay method expressing a foreign gene transiently in plant storage roots using the same vector. The promoter according to the present invention can induce high levels of expression particularly in plant storage roots. Therefore the present invention is very useful for the development of transgenic plants to produce valuable materials in large quantities in plant storage roots.
