A cathode ray tube includes a tube having a panel having an inner phosphor screen, a funnel connected to the panel, a neck connected to the funnel, a deflection unit disposed around the funnel, an electron gun installed in the neck, and a scatter-proof unit installed on the panel and the funnel such that the panel shares the scatter-proof unit with the funnel for preventing the tube from breaking and scattering into many pieces.

A Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) includes a panel having an inner phosphor screen, a funnel connected to the panel and adapted to have a deflection unit arranged thereon and a neck connected to the funnel and having an electron gun arranged therein. A shatter-proof member is installed on the funnel to prevent the tube from shattering.

An image display device includes a cathode ray tube. The cathode ray tube includes a panel with an inner phosphor screen, and a funnel connected to the panel with a cone portion mounting a deflection unit on the outer circumference thereof. A neck is connected to the funnel while mounting an electron gun therein. The interface between the cone portion and the neck is called a neck seal line, and the portion of the electron gun sealed to the neck called a gun sealing portion. When the distance between the panel and the neck seal line is indicated by A and the distance between the neck seal line and the gun sealing portion by B, the values of A and B satisfy the following conditions:0.31&#x3c;&#x3c;0.38 and79 mm&#x3c;&#x3c;95 mm.
