One or more embodiments of the present invention are directed to a liquid crystal display including: a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other; a first color pixel area, a second color pixel area, a third color pixel area, and a white pixel area on any one of the first substrate and the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. A first color filter is disposed in each of the first color pixel area and the white pixel area, and each of the first, second, third, and white pixel areas includes a plurality of domains, each two adjacent domains having a boundary between them, and the first color filter is disposed at at least one of the boundaries between the domains in the white pixel area.

Liquid crystal display

Provided are a liquid crystal display panel and a manufacturing method thereof, and more particularly, a liquid crystal display panel including white pixels and a manufacturing method thereof. The liquid crystal display panel includes: a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other; a liquid crystal layer positioned between the first substrate and the second substrate; a plurality of color filters positioned on the first substrate and representing different colors from each other, in which at least two of the plurality of color filters overlap with each other on the first substrate to form an overlapping portion, and the overlapping portion forms a first spacer; a transparent filter positioned on the first substrate and positioned in a transmitting area of a white pixel; and a second spacer including the same material as the transparent filter.

Embodiments of the present invention relate to a display device and a driving method thereof. More particularly, embodiments of the present invention relate to a display device including a white pixel, and a method of driving such a display device. A display device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a plurality of colored pixels and a white pixel, wherein the colored pixels and the white pixel each include at least one switching element, the colored pixels and the white pixel are disposed to be adjacent to each other so as to collectively have a center, and the switching elements are each positioned proximate to the center.

The device includes: first, second, and third color pixel areas; a first substrate and a second substrate; a first color filter disposed in the first color pixel area on the first substrate or the second substrate; a second color filter disposed in the second color pixel area on the first substrate or the second substrate; a third color filter disposed in the third color pixel area on the first substrate or the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the first color pixel area includes a first transparent region at which the first color filter is not disposed, and a ratio of the first transparent region of the first color pixel area to the first color pixel area is in a range of 1/1000 to 1/2, inclusive.
