A display device which includes a display panel that includes a first display area and a second display area, and a driving controller. During a multi-frequency mode, the driving controller drives the first display area by using a first driving frequency and drives the second display area by using a second driving frequency. During the multi-frequency mode, when the second driving frequency changes from a first frequency to a second frequency, the driving controller drives the first display area and the second display area during at least one frame by using a base frequency, drives the first display area and the second display area during at least one second frame by using an intermediate frequency between the base frequency and the second frequency, and then drives the first display area by using the first driving frequency and drives the second display area by using the second frequency.

A contrast enhancement device included in a display device includes an analysis circuit which receives input image data as input data in a normal mode, receives input test data as the input data in a diagnosis mode, and determines a contrast enhancement coefficient by analyzing the input data, a process circuit which generates output data by performing a contrast enhancement process on the input data based on the contrast enhancement coefficient, where the output data in the normal mode is output image data corresponding to the input image data, and the output data in the diagnosis mode is output test data corresponding to the input test data, and a diagnosis circuit which outputs the output image data in the normal mode, and generates diagnosis result data for the contrast enhancement device by comparing the output test data with reference test data in the diagnosis mode.

A display device prevents breakage due to overheating of a data driver and a signal controller. The display device includes a display panel including a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines and pixels connected to the gate lines and the data lines. The signal controller includes a data converter converting a gray value of image data when a difference in the gray value of the image data of two adjacent pixels connected to the same data line among the plurality of data lines is greater than or equal to a first threshold value.

An image signal modifying device includes a pixel, a memory which stores compressed information in which a three-dimensional ('3-D') lookup table is coded, an image signal modifying unit which decodes the compressed information to generate a restored 3-D lookup table and generates a modified signal based on a first image signal of a first frame, a second image signal of a second frame, a third image signal of a third frame and the restored 3-D lookup table, and a data driver which converts the modified signal into the data voltage and supplies the data voltage to the pixel.
