The present invention relates to novel thiazolothiazole derivatives and an organic electronic device such as an organic light emitting device, an organic transistor, and an organic solar cell using the same. In the compound of the invention, various substituents are introduced to the core structure, so as to satisfy the requirements such as suitable energy levels, and electrochemical and thermal stability, and also have amorphous or crystalline property depending on the kind of the substituents, so as to satisfy the characteristics individually required for each of the devices. Further, an organic semiconductor of p-type or n-type can be fabricated by introducing various substituents to the core structure having a property of n-type. Therefore, the compound of the present invention can provide a device having higher stability.

Disclosed are organic electroluminescent devices employing materials of a low reduction potential in a layer functioning hole-injection. The organic electroluminescent devices may employ an anode material having a relatively low work function. Aluminum may be used in anode. During the operation, the organic electroluminescent devices may form a virtual electrode in their internal area, which enhances injection of carriers from a nearby electrode. Use of aluminum in the anode helps construction of cathode-emission organic electroluminescent devices.

Electroluminescent displays incorporating these materials produce blue light at low voltage levels. These novel organic materials include compounds in which 1 to 2 imidazole functional groups are introduced in the 2 or 2,6-site of 9,10 substituted anthracene. An organic electroluminescent display with an organic compound layer of these materials has high efficiency, thermal stability, operationally stability and maintains driving voltage before and after operation.
