The present invention relates to plasma display panel and manufacturing method thereof to simplify the manufacturing steps and reduce cost of production. In the present invention, a black layer formed between a transparent electrode and a bus electrode is formed together with a black matrix at the same time. In this case, the black layer is formed together with the black matrix in one. Cheap nonconductive oxide is used as a black powder of a black layer. Specifically, in case the black layer and the black matrix are formed in one, the bus electrode is shifted to a non-discharge area to improve the brightness of the plasma display panel.

Plasma display panel and manufacturing method thereof

Provided is a plasma display apparatus. The plasma display apparatus includes a first electrode and a second electrode formed in parallel on an upper substrate, and a third electrode formed on a lower substrate to intersect with the first electrode and the second electrode. Plasma display panel and method and apparatus for driving the same

A plasma display panel and a driving method thereof that are capable of improving the discharge efficiency and the brightness. In the panel, sustaining electrodes are formed at the boundary portions between the discharge cells. Trigger electrodes are formed at the inner sides of the discharge cells. Lattice-shaped barrier ribs are formed in such a manner to surround the discharge cells. The method of driving the panel includes a reset period, an address period and a sustaining period. In the method, a reset pulse is applied to the sustaining electrodes during the reset period. A scanning pulse is applied to the trigger electrodes during the address period. A first sustaining pulse is applied to the trigger electrodes during the sustaining period. A second sustaining pulse is applied to the sustaining electrodes in such a manner to be alternate with the first sustaining pulse. Accordingly, the PDP causes a sustaining discharge using three electrodes within the discharge cell to increase a discharge frequency per sustaining pulse into two time in comparison to the prior art and to make a long-distance discharge and an enlargement of light-emission area, thereby realizing a high efficiency and a high brightness.

A plasma display panel and a driving method thereof that are capable of improving the brightness and the discharge efficiency. In the plasma display panel, an auxiliary electrode pair causes an auxiliary discharge. An area of the auxiliary electrode at the periphery of a discharge cell is wider than that at the center of the discharge cell. A sustaining electrode pair is arranged at each side of the auxiliary electrode pair to cause a sustaining discharge by utilizing the auxiliary discharge. In the driving method, wall charges concentrate on the center portion of the discharge cell during an auxiliary discharge generated between the auxiliary electrode pair. Then, a sustaining discharge is generated between the sustaining electrode pair by utilizing the wall charges produced by the auxiliary discharge.
