An image forming method using a photothermographic material including, on at least one surface of a support, at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions, and a binder, in which (1) the photothermographic material is exposed and thermally developed during transportation at a transportation speed of 23 mm/sec or faster, (2) the non-photosensitive organic silver salt contains 30 mol % to 85 mol % of silver behenate and an amount of the time until a leading end of the photothermographic material reaches a thermal development station after a power source for ae thermal developing apparatus is turned on is 15 minutes or less, or (3) a coating amount of silver inf the photothermographic material is 1.9 g/mor less and a thermal development time is 12 sec or less.

Image forming method using photothermographic material

A development processing method which comprises the steps of: imagewise exposing a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material; and developing the exposed photographic material with a developing solution, wherein the silver halide photographic material comprises a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, at least one of the silver halide emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloidal layers containing at least one hydrazine derivative; and wherein the developing solution is substantially free from a dihydroxybenzene compound, has a pH of from 9.0 to 10.5 and contains (1) at least one ascorbic acid developing agent, (2) at least one 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidone auxiliary developing agent and (3) a compound represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 to R.sub.4 may be the same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a substituent group bonded to the ring in formula (I) by a carbon atom, a nitrogen atom, an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or a phosphorus atom, with the proviso that neither R.sub.1 nor R.sub.3 represents a hydroxyl group and that at least one of R.sub.1 to R.sub.4 is an --SM group, wherein M represents a hydrogen, atom, an alkali metal atom or an ammonium group.

Development processing method

A development processing method comprising developing a silver halide photographic material with a developing solution, (i) wherein the silver halide photographic material comprises a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and contains: (a) at least two kinds of light-sensitive silver halide emulsions which are each spectrally sensitized and have sensitivities different from each other with respect to a certain exposure wavelength; and (b) at least one hydrazine derivative in at least one of the silver halide emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloidal layers, and (ii) wherein the developing solution is substantially free from a dihydroxybenzene compound, has a pH of from 9.0 to 10.5 and contains: (1) at least one ascorbic acid developing agent and (2) at least one auxiliary developing agent represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent group; and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group or a heterocyclic group.

A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one of a surface latent image type silver halide emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloid layers is disclosed, in which said at least one of the emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloid layers contains a compound represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X represents ##STR2## R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a group capable of being converted to a hydrogen atom on hydrolysis; R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent group; R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkylsulfonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted arylsulfonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkylcarbonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted arylcarbonyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted carbamoyl group; Y represents a group which accelerates adsorption onto silver halide grains; L represents a divalent linking group; and m represents 0 or 1. The photographic material has suitability for rapid processing and markedly improved abrasion resistance without undergoing reduction in sensitivity.

Silver halide photographic material

Silver halide black-and-white photosensitive material is processed with a fixer which contains 0.5 to 2.0 mol/liter of a thiosulfate and 0.003 to 0.3 mol/liter of a meso-ionic compound, the moles of the meso-ionic compound divided by the moles of the thiosulfate being from 0.003 to 0.2. The fixer accelerates fixing speed, enabling rapid processing of photographic material.

A method of forming a black-and-white image of very high contrast having a gamma value of 8 or above is disclosed, using a negative imagewise exposed photosensitive material comprising a support having thereon at least one hydrophilic colloid layer, at least one layer which is a silver halide emulsion layer, at least one of said hydrophilic colloid layer containing a hydrazine derivative represented by formula (I), comprising processing the photosensitive material with a developer having a pH of 11.2 or lower, said developer being substantially free from benzotriazoles to thereby provide a wide exposure latitude and steady image formability: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents an aliphatic group or an aromatic group; R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an amino group, a carbamoyl group or an oxycarbonyl group; G.sub.1 represents a carbonyl group, a sulfonyl group, a sulfoxy group, ##STR2## or an iminomethylene group; and each of A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, or one of A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom and the other is an alkylsulfonyl group, an arylsulfonyl group, or an acyl group.

A method of image formation comprising imagewise exposing a silver halide photographic photosensitive material comprising a support having thereon at least two silver halide emulsion layers and which contains a hydrazine compound in the emulsion layers or in another hydrophilic colloid layer wherein the photographic speed of the emulsion layer on the side furthest from the support of the above mentioned silver halide layers is higher by 0.1 to 0.4 logE than the photographic speed of the emulsion layer which is closest to the support, through the support, and developing the imagewise exposed photosensitive material, whereby a high contrast negative image of a gamma at least 8 is obtained.

A negative type silver halide photographic material is disclosed. Negative type silver halide photographic material and method for forming

Silver halide photographic material and method of forming an image using the same are disclosed. The material comprises one or more silver halide emulsion layers on a support, with a hydrazine derivative and a developing agent being incorporated in at least one of said emulsion layers. The image forming method comprises performing imagewise exposure of the above-described photographic material and developing said material with a developing solution that contains sulfite ions in a concentration of not less than 0.15 mole per liter and which has a pH within the range of from 9.5 to 12.3, and provides a supercontrasty negative image that has a very contrasty photographic characteristic of a gamma (.gamma.) of 10 or more and which is not highly susceptible to the occurrence of 'black spots'.

A negative type silver halide photographic material and a process for forming a super high contrast negative image using said material are described. This photographic material comprises a support having provided thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer which has a substantial influence upon image density and at least one light-insensitive hydrophilic colloid layer, wherein a hydrophilic colloid layer other than said silver halide emulsion layer contains a hydrazine derivative in a non-diffusing condition. With this photographic material, a super high contrast negative image can be obtained without decreasing sensitivity and gamma by the use of a developer containing not less than 0.15 mol/liter of sulfite ions and having a pH of from 10.5 to 12.3.

A method of forming an image is provided.
