A prosthetic knee joint includes a knee seat having a slant screw hole, a movable member disposed pivotally in a bottom portion of the knee seat and having a lower mounting portion and an upper pushing portion, two shafts disposed respectively within shaft holes in the lower mounting portion, two C-shaped elastic sleeves sleeved respectively on the shafts and abutting against the upper pushing portion, a linkage connected to the shafts, a weight-buffering device having a rubber cushion disposed directly under the slant screw hole, a buffer adjustment device having a buffer cushion that protrudes outwardly of the movable member to abut against a projection of the knee seat and that is removable from the projection, and a restoring device operable so as to move a free end of the upper pushing portion relative to the lower mounting portion.

Prosthetic knee joint

A vibration-absorbing device for an artificial lower limb includes a knee-connecting tube attached to a prosthetic knee unit, an ankle-connecting member attached to a prosthetic foot and ankle unit, and an upright connecting rod having an upper end disposed movably within the tube, and a lower end connected fixedly to the ankle-connecting member. A coiled compression spring is sleeved on the connecting rod between the knee unit and the foot and ankle unit so as to bias the connecting rod to move downwardly relative to the tube to a predetermined position, thereby retarding movement of the connecting rod in an axial direction of the tube. A cushion member is made of a resilient material, is sleeved on the ankle-connecting member, and is disposed within the tube so as to retard movement of the connecting rod in a transverse direction of the tube.

Vibration-absorbing device for an artificial lower limb

An artificial knee joint includes a knee seat attached to a residual thigh, a support frame attached to a prosthetic lower leg, and a driving member disposed pivotally in a mounting recess in the knee seat. A cushion device is disposed between the knee seat and the driving member. Two links have lower ends connected pivotally to the support frame. Two pivot pins extend respectively through upper ends of the links, and are journalled respectively within two mounting holes in the driving member by two bearing members, at least one of which is configured as a unidirectional bearing. When a knee angle is equal to a threshold angle, a pin-locking member is disposed in a pin-locking position so as to prevent rotation of the pivot pins within the driving member and, thus, relative rotation between the knee seat and the support frame.

Artificial knee joint having a minimum knee angle

An artificial knee joint assembly includes a knee seat connected fixedly to a residual thigh, a support frame connected to the knee seat by means of a linkage unit, a prosthetic lower leg connected pivotally to a lower end of the support frame, a hydraulic cylinder unit disposed within the support frame so as to dampen the movement of the support frame relative to the knee seat, and a valve assembly disposed within the support frame. When the lower leg stands on a horizontal or inclined surface, the valve assembly is actuated by the lower leg to stop the operation of the hydraulic cylinder unit, thereby preventing rotation of the lower leg relative to the thigh.

An apparatus for driving electrically a hand-operated wheelchair includes two driving devices, a power supply device, and a control device. Each driving device includes a motor unit provided with a motor shaft and a transmission unit that is adapted to be mounted removably on a respective one of the wheels of the wheelchair so as to transfer rotation of the motor shaft to the respective one of the wheels in such a manner that each of the wheels rotates at a speed smaller than that of the respective motor shaft. The power supply device is adapted to be disposed on a chair frame for supplying electrical power to the motor units. The control device controls speed ratios of the motor shafts of the motor units so as to be adapted to steer the wheelchair.

Apparatus for driving hand-operated wheelchair

A differential gear apparatus includes a differential casing having a bearing surface for journalling of a right axle, two cavities at opposite sides of the bearing surface, and two radially extending holes formed in an outer annular wall thereof and communicating with the cavities such that two shafts are fitted therein and extend into the cavities. Two differential pinions are mounted respectively and rotatably on the shafts. A right bevel wheel is mounted on and is rotatable with the right axle, and meshes with the differential pinions. A left bevel wheel is mounted on and is rotatable with the differential casing and meshes with the differential pinions. A ring gear member has an outer toothed rim portion adapted to engage and be driven by a pinion mechanism, and an inner rim portion fittingly sleeved on the differential casing. A fastening member is disposed to releasably secure the ring gear member to the differential casing so as to inhibit rotating movement of the ring gear member relative to the differential casing. As such, the differential pinions are connected to the differential casing by the shafts, thereby preventing the movement of the differential pinions in an axial direction so as to provide a steady transmission and reduce the noise resulting from unsteady connection therebetween.

Differential gear apparatus adapted to couple with a pinion mechanism of a wheeled vehicle

A motor-driven prosthetic prehensor includes an upright annular member and an annular retaining member having a friction wall that defines an accommodation space with a front wall of the annular member. A coupling sleeve member with a toothed rim is rotatably mounted on a transmission shaft disposed rotatably in the annular member, and has angularly spaced driving blocks extending into the accommodation space. A coupling member is mounted on and rotatable with the transmission shaft, and includes radially spaced driven spacer members that cooperate with the friction wall to define a plurality of chambers for receiving the driving blocks, and friction brakes that are slidable in the chambers between unobstructed position and braked positions. A coupling mechanism transmits rotation of the transmission shaft to drive a thumb member and a fingers assembly to move toward and away from each other so as to grasp or release an object.

Motor-driven prosthetic prehensor

A speed changeable gear drive apparatus is transmits a drive of an output shaft of an electrically powered motor to drive a wheeled vehicle. The apparatus includes a drive shaft coupling with the output shaft to rotate about a first axis and having first and second driving gears with different numbers of teeth. A driven shaft with a second axis is disposed parallel to the drive shaft. A first driven gear is secured on the driven shaft, meshes with the first driving gear, and has a first hub portion provided with a plurality of first spline members. An annular bearing member is sleeved on the first hub portion. A second driven gear is mounted on the driven shaft, meshes with the second driving gear, and has a second hub portion provided with a plurality of second spline members, and an annular anchoring member extending from the second hub portion towards the first driven gear. An annular coupling member is sleeved on and is retainingly shiftable relative to the driven shaft along the second axis, and includes an output end portion adapted to drive the wheeled vehicle, and a splined end portion. When the coupling member is shifted to a first position or a second position by a shifting member, the splined end portion is coupled with the first spline members or with the second spline members so as to transmit the drive of the first driving gear or the second driving gear to the output end portion.

Speed changeable gear drive apparatus for a wheeled vehicle

An artificial knee joint includes a hollow cylinder (5) in which a piston member (62) is disposed movably. The piston divides the cylinder (5) into upper and lower chambers (51, 52). The swing phase control member (8) has first and second channels (80, 81), a fulcrumed lever member (82) bridging the first and second channels (80, 81). The second channel (81) is communicated with the upper and lower chambers (51, 52). The first end of the lever member (82) extends into the first channel (80) for movement in response to an air pressure in the first channel (80). The second end of the lever member (82) has a first throttle valve unit (83) for regulating the air flow through the second channel (81) in response to a movement of the lever member (82). A pump unit (7) is associated operatively with the piston member (62) for pumping air from the ambient to the first channel (80) in response to a movement of the piston member (62).

Artificial knee joint having a swing phase control member

A keyless lock device is disclosed, which has a master control unit installed in a car and a remote controller carried by a user. The master control unit has a processing unit connected to a centralized locking control unit of the car to lock and unlock the door of the car. A detection switch is installed in the door handle of the driver-side door of the car. The processing unit is connected to the detection switch to detect when the door handle is pulled. The master control unit transmits an acknowledgement signal when the door handle is pulled. The remote controller receives the acknowledgement signal and generates a re-acknowledgement signal encoded with a specific encrypted code for transmission. The re-acknowledge signal is then received by the master control unit to be recognized.

Keyless lock device for a car

A shock absorbing device for use with an artificial leg has a coupling member that includes a mounting plate and a tubular portion. The tubular portion has an upper end surface and is formed with a radial inward first restricting portion distal to the upper end surface. A sleeve member has a lower sleeve portion mounted telescopically on the tubular portion, and an upper sleeve portion formed with a radial inward second restricting portion that is disposed above the upper end surface of the tubular portion of the coupling member. A damping member extends into the coupling member and the sleeve member between the first and second restricting portions. A cushioning unit is provided for cushioning axial and radial forces exerted on the coupling member and the sleeve member, and for defining an upper limit of the relative axial movement between the coupling member and the sleeve member.

Shock absorbing device for an artificial leg

An artificial knee joint includes a shank formed with a pair of upwardly extending first lugs and a pair of radially extending second lugs, and a thigh support formed with a pair of downwardly extending third lugs which are connected pivotally to the first lugs. A connector has a first portion which extends between and which is mounted pivotally to the third lugs, a second portion which extends from the first portion and which extends between the first lugs, and a connecting portion formed at a junction of the first and second portions. A biasing unit on the shank biases the second portion of the connector upwardly. The connecting portion of the connector extends between and is connected pivotally to a spaced pair of pivot blocks on an upper end of an actuating member. The actuating member further has a lower end which extends between and which is connected pivotally to the second lugs. Each of a pair of damping units is provided on a respective one of the first lugs so as to bias the pivot blocks, respectively.

Artificial knee joint

A wheel assembly for a wheelchair includes a mounting plate fixed on one side of the seat portion, a motor and a gear unit which includes a gear disc, and a gear shaft that extends through the gear disc. The motor includes a driving worm fixed on the motor shaft so as to mesh with the gear disc. The gear disc is formed with an engaging recess. The gear shaft carries a slidable transverse key thereon. A spring biases the gear shaft to engage the key in the recess. A driving gear is fixed on the gear shaft. A driven gear is mounted rotatably on the mounting plate and is fastened to a wheel. A chain interconnects the driving gear and the driven gear. A hand lever can be moved against the bias action of the spring so as to disengage the key from the recess of the gear disc.

Wheel assembly for a wheelchair

An artificial foot includes a foot-shaped casing that has an open top, a closed bottom, a toe portion, a heel portion and a positioning projection that is formed in the casing and that extends upwardly from the closed bottom. A flexible muscle member is disposed in the casing and has an upwardly protruding curved intermediate section mounted to the positioning projection, and first front and rear sections that respectively extend from the intermediate section frontwardly and rearwardly into the toe and heel portion. A rigid stop member has a weight bearing section that covers the open top of the casing, a curved bottom part riding on the intermediate section of muscle member, and a second front section that extends downwardly and frontwardly into the toe portion so as dispose the same above the first front section of the muscle member. A second rear section of the stop member extends into the heel portion so as to dispose the same above the second rear section of the muscle member.

Artificial foot with members to help wearer maintain steady balance

A wheelchair has a seat portion and a pair of stationary mounting plates fixed to two sides of the seat portion. Each of the mounting plates has a driven pulley rotatably mounted thereon and a driving unit with a driving pulley. An endless belt interconnects the driving and driven pulleys together. A clutch assembly is mounted on the mounting plate and is associated with the driving unit to engage and disengage the driving unit from a pair of wheels that are attached to the stationary mounting plates.
