An image-capturing device configured for an optical pointing apparatus includes a plurality of image-sensing units arranged adjacently. The plurality of image-sensing units are configured to sense images of a surface and generate sensing signals that are used for evaluating the velocity of the optical pointing apparatus. The image-capturing device is configured to use different image-sensing units arranged differently to sense the surface according to the velocity of the optical pointing apparatus. When the optical pointing apparatus moves at a first velocity, the image-capturing device uses the image-sensing units configured to occupy a smaller area to sense the surface. When the optical pointing apparatus moves at a second velocity, the image-capturing device uses the image-sensing units configured to occupy a larger area to sense the surface. The first velocity is lower than the second velocity.

There is provided an optical finger mouse including two light sources, an image sensor and a processing unit. The two light sources emit light of different wavelengths to illuminate a finger surface. The image sensor receives reflected light from the finger surface to generate a plurality of image frames. The processing unit detects a displacement and a contact status of the finger surface and a physiological characteristic of a user according to the plurality of image frames. The present invention provides a displacement estimation method including the steps of: acquiring an image frame and determining a quality threshold according to a sampling parameter; calculating a quality parameter of the image frame; and comparing the quality parameter and the quality threshold to determine whether to post-process the image frame. In the displacement estimation method of the present invention, the quality threshold can be adjusted dynamically so as to reduce the possibility of outputting error displacement. The processing unit is configured to compute the coordinate data of the object using the first reference coordinate data, the image of the object, and the image of the reflection when the object is in the first touch region, and configured to compute the coordinate data of the object using the second reference coordinate data, the image of the object, and the image of the reflection when the object is in the second touch region.
