A process for welding directionally solidified metallic materials is presented. Process parameters are targeted selected with respect to laser welding, advancement, laser power beam diameter and powder mass flow. The temperature gradient, which is fundamentally decisive for the single-crystal growth during laser cladding, may be set in a targeted manner.

Single crystal welding of directionally compacted materials

During welding, frequently cracks develop at the end of the weld seam. A method is provided in which the power is reduced at the end of the weld seam, reducing the development of cracks. For the method, a welding appliance is used wherein the welding appliance may be a laser.

Welding repairs are often carried out on directionally solidified components that nevertheless do not possess the desired crystallographic surface alignment, which reduces mechanical strength. The method provided selects the direction of travel depending on the crystallographically preferred direction of the substrate such that no more misorientations occur. A laser beam may be used for remelting.

A welding method for welding workpieces made of highly heat-resistant superalloys is provided. The method includes generating a heat input zone on the workpiece surface by means of a heat source, feeding welding filler material into the heat input zone by means of a feeding device, and generating a relative motion between the heat source and the feeding device on one hand and the workpiece surface on the other hand by means of a conveying device. Furthermore, according to the welding method, the mass feed rate is &#x2266;350 mg/min.

A welding method in which the power is controlled in accordance with the temperature of the welding point is provided. The temperature of the welding point is lowered in a controlled manner at the end of the method and the temperature of this welding point is measured by a temperature measuring appliance.
