An environmentally sealed enclosure for encapsulating a splice between cable segments. Cable gripping apparatus in the housing limits movement of the cable relative to the housing and includes a bonding portion to prevent separation of sealant from a cable when a cable is positioned to extend through the entrance into the housing. Walls of top and bottom shell segments are configured to be locked together for forming an enclosure containing encapsulant for protecting the splice.

A terminal housing having a entry port formed in one wall thereof in combination with a folded grommet sheet having criss-crossing slits retained in sealing relation with the wall of the housing by a grommet plate. The housing is of unitary construction and has a door portion secured to a body portion by a living hinge and is equipped with spring elements for urging the door portion of the housing toward open and closed positions. The housing is suited for universal mounting on a strand, cable, wall and post or pole. The terminal housing is configured to contain terminal blocks for splices or dropwire installations.

Pole mounted housing for telecommunication terminals

A water-proof housing for a telecommunications terminal. The housing has a body portion and a hinged closure portion, hinge elements on the body portion and on the closure portion being configured to permit linear sliding movement of the closure longitudinally of an axis to a predetermined position and pivotal movement of the closure portion relative to the body portion when the closure portion is in a predetermined position relative to the body portion. A tongue formed by spaced tabs, one of the tabs being longer than the other tabs is sliceable through a guideway in a channel member on the closure portion of the housing such that when the long tab is aligned with a corresponding opening in the channel member, the closure portion of the housing can be rotated about the axis.

A closure for an electric cable splice includes first and second generally rectangular shell segments having side walls and end walls constructed and arranged to be telescopically secured together. A threaded fastener is connectable to extend through the first and second shell segments and is adapted to urge the shell segments together with sufficient force to extrude sealant in the first and second shell segments through entrance openings to encapsulate ends of spliced cables to provide a moistureproof seal between the spliced cables and the end wall adjacent the entrance openings.

An optical fiber splice closure (10) to protect splice connectors which secure optical fibers (18-19) together which includes top and bottom housing segments (20 and 50) which contain a body of sealant. An organizer tray (70) having guide surfaces (75) facilitates forming a loop in optical fibers (18 and 19) such that the loop has a minimum radius of at least two inches to minimize transmission losses. Flowable sealant in the housing segments has a volume greater than the volume of the closure so that sealant flows to form a waterproof seal against ingress of moisture into the closure.
