An automatic nailing apparatus includes a housing having a piston driving system for driving a piston, a percussion rod having a concave at only the tip thereof, a nosepiece having a round channel being provided with a pair of nail head guide rails, and a nail magazine for supplying interconnected nails. The forefront nail of the interconnected nails can be nailed in a direction normal to a workpiece because a point of application on nailing exists on the center axis of the forefront nail.

Automatic nailing apparatus with improved percussion rod and nosepiece

A power-driven hand-held fastener driving machine includes a housing including a reciprocally movable blade, a magazine for carrying a strip of fasteners such as staples, and a guide assembly composed of first and second guides defining a drive track therebetween. A safety device is actuatable in response to being pressed against a workpiece for depressing a switch means to move the blade for driving fasteners one at a time into the workpiece. The safety device is composed of first and second separate members, the first member being engageable with the switch means and the second member being angularly movable into and out of engagement with the first member and engageable with the workpiece. When the second member is out of engagement with the first member, the first member will not actuate the switch means to prevent accidental driving of the blade. A guide locking device keeps the first and second guides together, and, when unlocked, allows the second guide to be angularly moved away from the first guide to open the drive track.

Power-driven tacker with safety device

A hand-held power tool, such as an electric planer or the like, comprises a mechanism for moving or forwarding the body of the tool in a straight hand path. The mechanism includes a rotary wheel or a plate attached to the tool body so that the rotary wheel or plate contacts the surface of a work piece when the tool body is placed thereon. The rotary wheel or the plate is made of a material having a high friction coefficient. A plurality of parallel grooves are formed on the surface of the rotary wheel or so that a high degree of friction occurs between the surface thereof and the surface of the work piece should the body move in a direction other than a given direction on the surface of the work piece. The rotary wheel or plate is biased toward the work piece with the biasing force applied to the rotary wheel being variable.

Hand-held power tool with a mechanism

A power driven percussion tool is provided with a rotatable magazine block formed with a plurality of bores about the axis of rotation of the magazine block and is loaded with fasteners such as rivets or nails respectively retained in the bores. When the magazine block is stepwise rotated about its axis the bores are successively brought into alignment with the direction in which the fastener can be driven by a reciprocating hammer. The percussion tool is further provided with safety means for disabling the tool when the tool is not in use or being re-loaded with fasteners.
