An imaging system includes left and right display panels arranged so as to be viewed separately by left and right eyes of a viewer. A three dimensional video signal is supplied to a drive circuit for the display panels such that image data from the three dimensional video signal is supplied alternately to the left and right display panels. The display panels are of a memory effect LCD type such that, when no image data is received by the display panel, the image data of the previously received field is maintained on display for providing flickerless imaging.

Stereoscopic imaging systems using memory affect liquid crystal displays

An image display system stereoscopically reproduces a visual scene and includes an image display unit with a pair of LCD panels each starting its operation in response to a start pulse received every vertical field of an input video signal; a source of input video signals representing right and left stereoscopic video images every field; a circuit for generating right and left start pulses, which are mutually in an opposite-phase relationship, in synchronism with the arrival of the right and left video images; and a driver for driving the pair of LCD panels by the right and left start pulses. The image display unit is shaped into a virtual viewer incorporated in a ski-goggle type frame which is adapted to be worn on a user's head. The video images displayed on the two LCD panels are refreshed alternately to obtain a flickerless image without the necessity of employing any particular circuit or terminal.

A display apparatus for displaying a visual image to retina directly is comprised of an eye lens, a transparent display panel on which a picture image is displayed, a point source of light, and a mirror for reflecting a light which is emitted from the point source of light through the display panel to the eye lens to focus a real image on the user's retina.

Stereoscopic imaging using memory effect liquid crystal displays

A screen cover opening device for a television receiver is provided with a screen cover openably closing left and right side portions or upper and lower side portions of a screen adapted for electively displaying plural different aspect ratio images. Two vertically extending rolls 5a, 5b are arranged at outwardly shifted positions from left and right lateral sides wrapped around of the screen 2 and an endless cover sheet 3 is wrapped around these rolls. Two windows 4a, 4b are formed at longitudinally spaced apart positions of the cover sheet 3. The rolls are rotated to run the cover sheet to change overlap of the two windows to change the transverse width W that may be viewed through overlapped portions of the two windows.

Screen cover opening/closing device for television receiver

An eyesight auxiliary device having within a main body of the device is described, a spot light source, transparent liquid cyrstal panels illuminated by the spot light source and convex lenses substantially integrally arranged with the liquid crystal panels. The main body of the device is fitted to a user's head, the image of the liquid crystal panels is directly projected onto the retina of the user's eyeballs through the spot light source. Further, a small-sized camera for capturing the image of the liquid crystal panels is arranged at a position corresponding to the height positions of the eyeballs.

Eyesight auxiliary liquid crystal device

An adaptor having the same size as that of a standardized tape cassette accommodates a small-sized tape cassette for insertion into a recording and/or reproducing apparatus and includes an upper adaptor half formed to become openable and/or closable, a pair of tape withdrawing levers for withdrawing a magnetic tape from the small-sized tape cassette, and a pair of coupling members for coupling the upper adaptor half to the tape withdrawing levers, wherein when the upper adaptor half is rotated in its closing direction, the tape withdrawing levers are rotated to withdraw the magnetic tape so that the magnetic tape is extended within the adaptor.

Adaptor for a small-sized tape cassette

A small-sized tape cassette adaptor system in which a small-sized tape cassette is accommodated in an adaptor whose size is the same as that of a standardized tape cassette so that the small-sized tape cassette may be loaded into a recording and/or reproducing apparatus utilizing the standardized tape cassette. Tape withdrawing levers are provided within the small-sized tape cassette for withdrawing a magnetic tape, and a rotating member is mounted within the adaptor in a position for rotating the tape withdrawing levers, so that the tape withdrawing levers are rotated by the rotating member upon insertion of the small-sized tape cassette into the adaptor.

In a cassette recording and/or reproducing apparatus of the tape in which an operating mode selector, such as a push button for selecting a recording and/or reproducing operation, is automatically returned to an original position from a record/play position at the end of the playing of a cassette; a cassette changer having a cassette holder movable from a record/play position to an eject mode, further includes at least one, and preferably five resilient members and a loading device for receiving a second cassette to be exchanged with a first cassette in the holder with the resilient member or members being charged with elastic energy when the second cassette is loaded in the changer, and for exchanging the second cassette for the first cassette by means of the elastic energy discharged from the resilient member or members upon the return of the operating mode selector to its original position. Preferably, five springs respectively provide the elastic energy for selecting the eject mode, withdrawing the first cassette from the holder, inserting the second cassette into the holder, moving the second cassette and holder to the record/play position, and moving the operating mode selector to the record/play position.
