A system and method for input sensing comprises a display device having at least one piezoresistive sensing transistor. During a first period, a first resulting signal is received with a first data line by driving a first piezoresistive sensing transistor of a first subpixel of the display device with a first select signal. The first resulting signal corresponds to a change in resistance of the first piezoresistive sensing transistor. Further, at least one of force information and positional information associated with an input object may be determined at least partially based on the change in resistance.

A display panel includes a plurality of pixel circuits; and a sense line. The plurality of pixel circuits includes a touch sensing-adapted pixel circuit including a current-driven element, a drive transistor; a hold capacitor configured to hold a voltage corresponding to a data voltage and a sense capacitor. A capacitance of the sense capacitor varies in response to contact of an object with the current-driven display panel in a vicinity of the touch sensing-adapted pixel circuit. The drive transistor is configured to supply a current to the current-driven element in response to the data voltage and supply a sense current to the sense line in response to the capacitance of the sense capacitor.

In a liquid crystal display device of the invention, a reference voltage having a maximum value higher than a maximum value of a signal voltage used for obtaining a predetermined liquid crystal application voltage-luminance characteristic and a minimum value lower than a minimum value of the signal voltage is formed, and a liquid crystal driving circuit forms a correction voltage to speed up a response of a liquid crystal element from this reference voltage, so that the speed of the response of the liquid crystal element is made high even at the time of change from a gray level to white or black.

In the conventional method of achieving a fast response of a liquid crystal panel, even if the frame rate or the ambient temperature varies, if the image data are the same, the correction value will always be constant; accordingly, the conventional method is impossible of a correction in accordance with the environmental conditions in use. The liquid crystal display of the invention is provided with a plurality of look-up tables, each of which outputs a correction data for correcting an image data to increase the response speed of transmittance of the liquid crystal panel by using the two inputs of the input image data and the image data one frame before that an image memory storing the input image data outputs. The liquid crystal display selects one of the look-up tables in accordance with a frame rate that a frame rate detection circuit detects from the input image data, generates the correction data, and drives the liquid crystal panel using this correction data; thereby, the method of the invention increases the response speed in a change of the gradation.
