To produce a heat-reflecting glass plate by coating a glass plate surface with a titanium oxide film, a solution of a thermally decomposable organic titanium compound is sprayed onto the glass plate surface while the glass plate is kept heated. As the improvement, use is made of a chelate compound of titanium formed by coordination of two molecules of either acetylacetone or ethyl acetoacetate as chelate ligands and two molecules of a polyalcohol as nonchelate ligands to a titanium atom. Preferably the polyalcohol is a 1,3-diol, and particularly 2-ethyl-1,3-hexane diol. This chelate compound is not easily influenced by moisture and gives a titanium oxide coating film of superior quality.

Method of producing heat-reflecting glass plate by coating with titanium

An improvement in a method of coating a glass plate surface with a heat-reflecting titanium oxide film, which may optionally comprise other metal oxide(s), by spraying a solution of a thermally decomposable organic titanium compound in an organic solvent onto a sufficiently heated glass plate. As the improvement, the absolute humidity of the spraying atmosphere is maintained below about 0.008 kg H.sub.2 O/kg dry gas, whereby the resultant oxide film is practically free from tiny, opaque spots which are liable to appear in the product of conventional methods and exhibits improved resistance to chemical attacks.

Method of coating glass surface with heat-reflecting metal oxide film

A method of coating a glass surface with a heat-reflecting titanium oxide film, which may optionally comprise other metal oxide(s), by thermal decomposition of a titanium compound contained in a solution applied onto the glass surface. The coating is achieved with improved heat reflectivity and adhesion strength by using an organic solvent solution comprising a chelated titanium compound having at least one propoxy group or butoxy group and at least one octyleneglycol chelate ligand.

Method of coating glass surface with heat-reflective titanium oxide film

A glass plate coated with a metal oxide film comprising aluminum oxide and at least one of commonly used metal oxides such as the respective oxides of Cr, Co, Ni, Fe, Zn, Sn, Cu, Mn and Ti, wherein aluminum oxide is used to suppress the lowering of the reflectivity by a heat treatment of the oxide-coated glass. The oxide film is formed by coating the glass with a solution of thermally decomposable compounds exemplified by acetyl acetonates of the respective metals in an organic solvent and heating the coated solution.

Heat-reflecting glass plate and method of producing same

A method and apparatus for controlling the temperatures of inner wall surfaces of a hood and of the atmosphere in the vicinity of the inner wall surfaces in the process of fabricating heat-reflecting glass sheets by means of a traversing spraying means which is located over a transfer line of a hot glass sheet. The hood is provided with means to maintain the temperature of the inner wall surfaces which surround a spraying zone and onto which solution particles from the spraying means are caught or deposited and the temperature of the atmosphere adjoining the inner surface walls at such a suitable level that the metal compound in the solution particles which has been caught on the inner wall surfaces of the hood is vaporized in an undecomposed state and removed together with the gaseous solvent and decomposition gas.
