An optical disk device which includes a pickup module; a control board for processing the electrical signal received by a pickup from an optical disk and controlling sliding of the pickup; and a flexible cable for coupling the pickup and the control board. The pickup module includes the pickup for reading information on a recording face of the optical disk; a spindle motor for retaining and rotating the optical disk; and a frame on which the spindle motor is disposed. The control board is fixed to a chassis, and the pickup module is fixed to the chassis only via elastic bodies. The cable is disposed to be surrounded by the chassis and the pickup module.

A portable information processing apparatus having a disk drive device and being reduced in size and weight is presented. This portable information processing apparatus comprises a disk drive device, a disk cover, a keyboard, and a casing main body. The disk cover can be opened and closed from the casing, and the disk drive device allows part of the disk recording medium to advance beneath the keyboard when the disk recording medium is loaded into the disk drive device.

At an end of a bottom board,of an upper case,holding a thin keyboard switch,, a substantially large opening,that allows a connector sheet,drawn from a rear end of the keyboard switch to pass through with a sufficient margin is provided, the connector sheet,is provided with at least one hole,at the middle part in the width direction, and a protrusion,is provided protruding from a frame portion,of the upper case as the constituent part towards the opening,, which protrusion penetrating through the hole,of connector sheet,, as it is being folded down forward, for supporting a baseboard,from the bottom surface. With the above described structure, the fabricating operation for connecting the connector sheet,can be accomplished easier and surer.
