The present invention provides an aqueous two-package type clear coating composition comprising: (A) an aqueous dispersion of a hydroxyl group- and acid group-containing acrylic resin having a hydroxyl value of 30 to 200 mg KOH/g, an acid value of 5 to 50 mg KOH/g, a weight average molecular weight of 3,000 to 30,000, and a glass transition temperature of &#x2212;30 to +40&#xb0; C. obtained by radical polymerization of 10 to 50 mass % of a secondary hydroxyl group-containing monomer (a) and 50 to 90 mass % of at least one other unsaturated monomer (b); and (B) a polyisocyanate curing agent obtained by mixing (c) a polyisocyanate compound and (d) a compound containing an anionic functional group, a polyoxyethylene group, and a hydrocarbon group, and a process for forming a multilayer topcoat film using the same.

Aqueous two-package type clear coating composition and process for the formation of multilayer finish coating film

This invention provides a thermosetting organic solvent paint comprising (A) a compound having at least two alicyclic epoxy groups in one molecule and having a number average molecular weight of less than 2000, (B) a secondary amino group-containing compound and (C) a thermolatent cationically polymerizable catalyst and further, under circumstances, (D) colloidal silica, and capable of forming a rigid coating film which is hard, tough and excellent in stain resistance, and from which pollutants, if adhered, are easily removed. This invention further provides a method to form a multi-layered top coating film which comprises applying, to a material to be coated, one or more species of colored paint and one or more species of clear paint in order, said method being characterized in that the above-mentioned paint is used as a clear paint which is to be applied on the uppermost layer.

Coating composition and method for coating therewith

The present invention provides a thermosetting organic solvent type coating capable of forming a cured coating film having a TUKON hardness at 20&deg; C. of 15 or more and the minimum value of dynamic modulus E&prime; at a frequency of 110 Hz in the temperature range of 150-200&deg; C., of 1&times;10,dyn/cm or more. The cured film formed from the coating, as compared with the cured films formed from conventional organic solvent type coatings used as a top coat for automobile (e.g. an organic solvent type coating containing, as main components, a hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resin and a melamine resin, or a carboxylic-epoxy type coating), is at least equivalent in weatherabiIity, finish appearance, acid resistance, etc. and superior in stain resistance.

Coating composition and method for application thereof

The present invention provides a thermosetting organic solvent type coating capable of forming a cured coating film having a TUKON hardness at 20&deg; C. of 15 or more and the minimum value of dynamic modulus E&prime; at a frequency of 110 Hz in the temperature range of 150-200&deg; C., of 1&times;10,dyn/cm,or more. The cured film formed from the coating, as compared with the cured films formed from conventional organic solvent type coatings used as a top coat for automobile (e.g. an organic solvent type coating containing, as main components, a hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resin and a melamine resin, or a carboxylic-epoxy type coating), is at least equivalent in weatherability, finish appearance, acid resistance, etc. and superior in stain resistance.

There is disclosed a novel organic solvent type coating composition capable of making the solid content concentration at the time of coating to higher than 70% by weight, without lowering the properties, which urethane type coating materials have, such as acid resistance, scratch resistance, finishing appearance etc. The composition comprises (A) a vinyl type polymer having both hydroxyl groups and alkoxysilyl groups in the molecule and having a number-average molecular weight in a range of 2,000 to 10,000; (B) a polyol compound having a number-average molecular weight of less than 1,000 and having a hydroxyl value in a range of 120 to 1,000 mgKOH/g; (C) a polyisocyanate compound having a number-average molecular weight of less than 2,000; and (D) a silanol group forming catalyst.
