The present invention provides a cylindrical printing blanket comprising a seamless sleeve and a sheet-like blanket having a fabric layer, a compressive layer and a surface printing layer, said sheet-like blanket being bonded onto the outer surface of said seamless sleeve. The blanket is made by cutting a long sheet-like blanket that has the fabric layer, the compressive layer and the surface printing layer and is bonded to the outer surface of the seamless sleeve, thus the operation can be done with good workability.

A method is furnished for producing a compressible layer for a printing blanket by heating a sheet-shaped intermediate layer of a rubber composition having a structure in which hollow microspheres are dispersed in matrix rubber for one to fifty minutes under certain defined conditions of vulcanizing pressure and temperature using a vulcanizer for applying heat and pressure in direct contact with the intermediate layer. The produced compressible layer exhibits superior compressibility and durability, is uniform in thickness and internal structure, and does not reduce the productivity of the printing blanket and increase the fabrication cost of the printing blanket.

Method of producing a compressible layer for a printing blanket

A printing blanket according to the present invention is substantially composed of a base fabric and a surface printing layer, and a part or the whole of the base fabric is composed of hollow fibers. The printing blanket is superior in productivity because it has a simpler structure than that of an air-type printing blanket, and has excellent compression properties similar to those of the air-type printing blanket.

The present invention provides a printing blanket which includes a first compressive layer which is porous and seamless, a non-expansion layer formed by spirally winding a wire in a circumferential direction of the blanket so that a distance between adjacent wires is not more than 0.5 mm, a second compressive layer which is porous and seamless, a surface printing layer which is seamless and non-compressive, and a cylindrical sleeve to be fit over a blanket cylinder, wherein these layers are laminated in this order on the outer peripheral surface of this cylindrical sleeve directly or through a seamless adhesive layer. According to this printing blanket, piling caused at the time of high-speed printing is inhibited and printing can be performed in high productivity.

A printing blanket according to the present invention is provided with a non-stretchable layer formed by arranging hollow yarn in a predetermined direction inside a surface printing layer constituting an elastomer. The printing blanket is and formed in a seamless cylindrical shape in the circumferential direction, is superior in productivity because it has a simpler structure than that of an air-type printing blanket, and has excellent compression properties similar to those of the air-type printing blanket.

A printing blanket in which an open cell compressible layer and a closed cell compressible layer are provided inside a surface printing layer, which has such superior characteristics that it has the advantages of both the compressible layers and does not cause a variety of problems which are caused by the disadvantages of both the compressible layers.

A printing blanket according to the present invention is formed by laminating a non-stretchable layer obtained by winding a thread in helical fashion in the circumferential direction, a compressible layer comprising an elastomer and in a porous and a seamless cylindrical shape, and a surface printing layer similarly comprising an elastomer and in a seamless cylindrical shape in this order, whereby high-quality prints can be obtained in a wide range, and the degree of the degradation of printing properties due to the reduction in reaction force is low.

There is provided an offset blanket which is particularly superior in paper discharging properties at the time of printing, comprising a supporting layer and a surface printing layer provided on the supporting layer, and the surface printing layer is a rubber layer wherein a volume change .DELTA.V (%) and a tan .delta. satisfy a relation represented by the formula:

The offset blanket of the present invention has a structure comprising no reinforcing layer between its compressive layer and its surface printing layer. The surface printing layer has a thickness in the range of 5 to 20% based on the thickness of the whole blanket, and a hardness of the rubber which constitutes the surface printing layer which is in the range of 40.degree. to 70.degree. Type A, JIS K 6301. The compressive layer has a foam content (void volume) in the range of 30 to 60% and a thickness in the range of 10 to 30% based on the thickness of the whole blanket and a hardness of the rubber matrix constituting the compressive layer which is in the range of 40.degree. to 80.degree. Type A, JIS K 6301. Therefore, the offset blanket of the present invention is superior in paper feeding properties. Further, misregistry can be inhibited and solid inking properties are not deteriorated.

The present invention provides an offset blanket for printing having a supporting layer and a surface printing layer laminated on the supporting layer. The surface printing layer has a surface configuration in which the mean peak distance is controlled so that good paper discharging properties can be maintained.

The printing offset blanket in accordance with the present invention has a surface printing layer made of a mixture of silicone rubber and oil-resisting rubber. It is therefore possible to prepare ink layers having a uniform thickness and clear edges. Further, the present offset blanket can be improved in paper discharging properties and retention of paper powder, enabling the blanket to be suitably applied to high-speed printing, filter or display prints, or the like. The printing rubber roll of the present invention is made of a mixture of silicone rubber and oil-resisting rubber. Accordingly, the present rubber roll is excellent in stability with respect to ultraviolet-curing ink and can therefore be used for a long period of time.
