Provided is a polypropylene-based adhesive having an MFR of 2.7 g/10 min or higher, as measured at 230 &#xb0; C. under a load of 2.16 kg, comprising a composition which contains 5-95 parts by weight of (A) an isotactic polypropylene, 95-5 parts by weight of (B) a propylene/ethylene random copolymer, and 0-40 parts by weight of (C) an ethylene/propylene random copolymer, wherein 100 parts by weight of the composition is graft modified with 0.001-5 parts by weight of an unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or a derivative thereof, and wherein (B) is characterized by the following (i) to (iii): (i) the propylene/ethylene random copolymer (B) contains 60-90 mol % units derived from propylene and 10-40 mol % units derived from ethylene; (ii) the melting point (Tm) is in the range of 40-120 &#xb0; C.; and (iii) the molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) is in the range of 1.0-3.0.

Adhesive and laminate made with the same

It is an object of the invention to provide a carbodiimide modified polyolefin adhesive having excellent adhesive strength in a room temperature atmosphere and excellent adhesive strength in a high temperature atmosphere even in continuously molding with a practical molding machine. An adhesive (D), i.e., a carbodiimide modified polyolefin adhesive of the present invention which can solve the above problem is obtainable by allowing a polyolefin (A) having a group capable of reacting with a carbodiimide group to react with a carbodiimide group-containing compound (B) in the presence of an unmodified polyolefin (C) and having a ratio of a peak intensity at 2130 to 2140 cmto a peak intensity at 1470 cm, as determined by infrared absorbance analysis, of not more than 60% and a density of 0.870 g/cmto 0.920 g/cm. Furthermore, the use of the adhesive provides a laminate of a polar resin (F) and a polyolefin (G) having excellent interlaminar adhesive force both under a room temperature atmosphere and under a high temperature atmosphere.

There is provided by the present invention a polyester resin composition containing a copolyester having hydroxy carboxylic acid units as constituent units or a polyoxycarboxylic acid, wherein hydroxy carboxylic acid units of 5 or less carbon atoms are contained in amounts of 2 to 75% by mol based on 100% by mol of all the constituent units contained in the composition, and a molar ratio Sof hydroxy carboxylic acid units both of whose neighboring units are hydroxy carboxylic acid units to all the hydroxy carboxylic acid units contained and a molar ratio Sof hydroxy carboxylic acid units neither of whose neighboring units is a hydroxy carboxylic acid unit to all the hydroxy carboxylic acid units contained satisfy the following formula:0.03&#x3c;&#x3c;30. In the present invention, the amount (% by mol) of the hydroxy carboxylic acid contained in the polymer is in the specific range, and a molar ratio S/Sof continuously bonded hydroxy carboxylic acid units to isolated hydroxy carboxylic acid units is in the specific range, and hence, a resin composition having excellent gas barrier properties and a good balance among mechanical properties, heat resistance, transparency and hue can be provided. The resin composition can be favorably used for packaging materials requiring gas barrier properties, for example, food packaging materials, such as films and blown contains, and electronic part packaging materials.

Polyester resin composition

A propylene-based polymer composition for adhesive use and a laminate structure thereof are provided, wherein decrease of bonding strength is prevented when the laminate structure is formed and heat treatment is applied and whitening in bending process is suppressed. Provided are a propylene-based polymer composition (D) for adhesive use comprising (i) 40 to 92 wt % of a graft-modified polypropylene (A); (ii) 5 to 30 wt % of an ethylene.&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer (B) having a melt flow rate (MFR) of 0.01 to 10 g/10 min at 230&#xb0; C. under a load of 2.16 kg and a density of 0.940 g/cmor less; and (iii) 3 to 30 wt % of a block copolymer (C) composed of an olefin crystalline segment and an ethylene.&#x3b1;-olefin segment, wherein the sum of (A), (B) and (C) is 100 wt %, and a laminate comprising at least one layer of the propylene-based polymer composition for adhesive use.

Propylene-based polymer composition for adhesive use and laminate thereof

A resin modifier (C) obtained by reacting a polyolefin (A) having a group which reacts with a carbodiimide group, and a carbodiimide group-containing compound (B), wherein the content of the carbodiimide group is from 1 to 200 mmol per 100 g of the resin modifier, and a polar group-containing polymer composition (F) comprising from 1 to 30% by weight of the resin modifier (C), from 99 to 20% by weight of a polar group-containing polymer (D), and from 0 to 80% by weight of an olefin polymer (E). The modifier can provide improved low-temperature impact resistance of a polymer alloy including a polar group-containing polymer and an olefin polymer (such as polylactic acid and polypropylene), and can provide a molded article with smooth surface when the polymer alloy is molded. A polar group-containing polymer composition is also set forth.

Resin modifier and polar group-containing polymer composition containing the same

A polar group-containing olefin copolymer having excellent adhesion properties to metals or polar resins and excellent compatibility therewith, a process for preparing the copolymer, a thermoplastic resin composition containing the copolymer, and uses thereof. The polar group-containing olefin copolymer comprises a constituent unit derived from an &#x25a1;-olefin of 2 to 20 carbon atoms, and a constituent unit derived from a straight-chain, branched or cyclic polar group-containing monomer having at the end a polar group such as a hydroxyl group or an epoxy group and/or a constituent unit derived from a macromonomer having at the end a polymer segment obtained by anionic polymerization, ring-opening polymerization or polycondensation. The polar group-containing olefin copolymer can be prepared by polymerizing the &#x3b1;-olefin with the polar group-containing monomer and/or the macromonomer in the presence of a metallocene catalyst. The polar group-containing olefin copolymer and the thermoplastic resin composition containing the copolymer are used for films, sheets, modifiers, building/civil engineering materials, automobile exterior trim, electric/electronic parts, coating bases, compatibilizing agents, etc.

Polar group-containing olefin copolymer, process for preparing the same, thermoplastic resin composition containing the copolymer, and uses thereof

The present invention is a polar group-containing olefin copolymer having excellent adhesion properties to metals or polar resins and excellent compatibility therewith. A process for preparing the copolymer, a thermoplastic resin composition containing the copolymer, and uses thereof are also described. The polar group-containing olefin copolymer comprises a constituent unit derived from an &#x3b1;-olefin of 2 to 20 carbon atoms, and a constituent unit derived from a straight-chain, branched or cyclic polar group-containing monomer having at the end a polar group such as a hydroxyl group or an epoxy group and/or a constituent unit derived from a macromonomer having at the end a polymer segment obtained by anionic polymerization, ring-opening polymerization or polycondensation. The polar group-containing olefin copolymer and the thermoplastic resin composition containing the copolymer are used for films, sheets, modifiers, building/civil engineering materials, automobile exterior trim, electric/electronic parts, coating bases, compatibilizing agents, etc.

An adhesive resin for a liquid crystal polymer, comprising a modified polyolefin (D) prepared by graft polymerizing at least one epoxy group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer (B) to a polyolefin (A) obtained by polymerizing one or more olefins selected from ethylene and &#x3b1;-olefin having from 3 to 20 carbon atoms, in an amount in the range of from 0.01 to 50% by weight, with the proviso that the modified polyolefin is 100% by weight. The modified polyolefin (D) can be combined with a thermoplastic resin (E) to form an adhesive resin composition.

Olefin block copolymers (A-1) are disclosed represented by the formula (I) PO-g-B. . . (I) wherein POis a segment comprised of repeating units derived from an olefin having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, gis an ester, ether, amide, imide, urethane, urea, silylether or carbonyl linkage, and Bis a segment containing an unsaturated hydrocarbon or a hetero atom. Olefin block copolymers, processes for producing the same and uses thereof

The present invention provides a polyester resin which comprises (a-1) 45 to 99% by mole of an oxycarboxylic acid unit having 5 carbon atoms or less, (a-2) 0.5 to 27.5% by mole of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid unit, and (a-3) 0.5 to 27.5% by mole of an aliphatic diol unit having 4 carbon atoms or less, and containing (a-1) to (a-3) in a total amount of 95% by mole or greater, wherein the relationship between the content of the oxycarboxylic acid, expressed as M % by mole, and the density &#x3c1; (kg/m) of the polyester resin, satisfies the formula &#x3c1;&#x2267;1349+M&#xd7;0.85.
